UFC 294: Usman To Battle Chimaev In Abu Dhabi

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, will fight Khamzat Chimaev in the co-main event of the card October 21 in Abu Dhabi.

The statement was made on social media by the UFC president and CEO, Dane White.

Usman, the former UFC welterweight champion, will be making his first appearance in the middleweight division.

The 36-year-old American had won 15 consecutive fights in the division before consecutive defeats to Leon Edwards.

On the other hand, Costa’s highly anticipated clash with Chimaev had been called off because the Brazilian just underwent elbow surgery.

White will now step up from welterweight to meet Usman in a middleweight fight on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.

‘You’ve been anticipating the co-main event,’ White remarked. ‘Costa is hurt, and despite all the rumours, we got it done.

The number four welterweight in the world Khamzat Chimaev is moving up to middleweight and he will face the number one welterweight Kamaru Usman.

‘So number one versus number four at middleweight, Usman versus Chimaev, we will see you in Abu Dhabi.’
