United Standing Firm Over Herrera Demands

Bosses at Old Trafford have reportedly called Ander Herrera’s bluff over demands for wages closer to £200,000-per-week.

The Manchester United midfielder is out of contract in June and has rebuffed a new four-year offer believed to be worth £170,000-per-week to remain in the fold.

Club sources, however, have stated United, while appreciating the qualities of the player, do not consider the Spaniard to be of the elite standing which justifies putting him in their top pay bracket alongside Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.

It would now seem the 29-year-old will be leaving United unless the former Athletic Bilbao man has a sudden change of heart and revises his financial demands.

There is a feeling inside the corridors of power that the player is hoping to bluff it out until the end, which last summer did see the Red Devils relent and meet Marouane Fellaini’s terms prior to his move to China in January.

United, though, do have bigger priorities to nail down this time around, with goalkeeper David De Gea and striker Marcus Rashford still dragging their heels on their own futures.

They know Herrera is happy in Manchester and United are comfortable with their stance, regardless of Paris Saint-Germain waiting in the wings to take him on a free transfer.
