  • I wonder what the fuss was all about in the first place concerning the release of the foreign players, almost all the players invited with about 3 exceptions are in camp. They just want fans to worry unnecessarily. Anyway, im glad that has passed. Its on to the game proper. And the next issue on hand is who and who will start and what formation the coach will use on match day.

    Where is Kelechi “Seniorman” Iheanacho???

    • He is the last to arrive, just as he was in 2019 for the matches against Ukraine and Brazil. Once is unfortunate, twice we begin to see a pattern forming

I hope he got the permission of the coach to stay away, even though I strongly doubt it. What coach will give you permission to stay away till Tuesday evening for a match taking place on Saturday; that means he does not see you as crucial to his plans.

He did this same thing before the Ukraine and Brazil friendlies, and others used the opportunity to stake their claim. I don’t think it is in his interest for the Nigerian media to begin to notice a negative pattern in his behavior; ’cause in case no one has told him – he is very expendable to the National Team considering the way the team plays.

Talk Ur Own, we just have to continue to use this medium to complain about this highly shameful situation. A whole Nigeria no get better stadium to play match. It is shameful indeed. What a disgrace!
After the miracle of Benin, I expected that there would be renewed efforts to upgrade our football stadia across the country. FOR WHERE? Things remain in their sorry state.
Ogbe stadium pitch was poor, but at least clean.
I’ve not been to Teslim Balogun stadium in a while, but if what you’re saying is true about the place being littered with excrement and other rubbish, then I hope our players don’t mind playing in such an unbecoming environment! Leon Balogun and Aribo will go back to Glasgow with TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED – how they had to play an international match for Nigeria in a shit-infested stadium. NIGERIA WE HAIL THEE!

    • @Pompei, I wouldn’t believe the story that the stadium is abandoned and squatters have moved in. Certain facts lead me to assert this:

      1. The Teslim Balogun stadium was (I’m not sure if it still is) used by the Barca Academy for their football school over the last few years. I went there with a friend who’s son plays football with them in, if I remember correctly 2018.
      2. The pitch and parts of the stadium has been since last year been replaced with grass and this work has been ongoing by the Lagos State sports ministry
      3. The Federal Fire Service this year (either February or this March) used the stadium to showcase their new high rise Fire Engines and used the opportunity to test their hoses on the grass
      4. I doubt very much that squatters will be tolerated whilst all this was going on.

In any case, we cannot blame the authorities if a person decides to dump litter or ease themselves inappropriately, that is entirely on the person, however, the stadium will be cleaned thoroughly before the Super Eagles use it.

I look at it as just “a rant”. Granted, it is a shame that we are using a 24,000 capacity stadium for the Super Eagles whilst a much bigger stadium across the road (the national Stadium) is being renovated by the Federal Sports ministry, and like others would much prefer that the Uyo stadium is used, but blatant lies in order to make a point help nobody nor the argument

All one has to do is search the term “Teslim Balogun stadium” and click on news to get the correct and real state of things

        BigD,
        Thanks for your post.
I hope you’re right. We want the Teslim Balogun stadium to be in good, pristine condition. If it is, I will be so very happy! Let us broadcast our game against Lesotho to the world on a pitch that rivals Old Trafford or the Bernabeu 🙂 🙂 🙂
Just kidding, we may not reach such dizzying heights, but at least let’s have something presentable. Something of quality.
But if the stadium is in disrepair like Talk Ur Own said, then surely someone somewhere must answer for it. The disgrace has to end. Nigeria with our pedigree in world football should have well maintained world class stadia all around the country.

Those Ranting about TBS, I wonder where they got there informations from.
TBS is the new addition to the “Homes” of the eagles, including UYO,and ABUJA.
Abuja is undergoing renovation, and is not ready, TBS has been renovated since late 2020.

@Talk ur own, your post above is a blatant lie and a great misinformation. Am sure you’ve never been to Lagos and not aware of the location of the stadium, neither do you even spare sometime to goggle the stadium online for information before typing this rubbish above.
For your information, TBS is located in the middle of a vibrant business and residential area of Surulere close to Western Avenue and not in the bush somewhere. Surrounded by many multi-Million $ Business centres and offices, how will these offices allow squatters dwell there without doing anything about it? Moreover the NFF, Sport ministry and Lagos state Government are busy doing all in their power to ensure the stadium is in Pristine condition for the match ahead.
Please desist from disinformation, check your facts right before typing rubbish here

You are the one that is lying, please mention the vibrant businesses located by the stadium and the beautiful residential homes beside the stadium. The last time i checked the stadium is beside a low cost housing. And the business centers on western avenue are no where near this stadium. So stop misleading people here

      • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

@Shina. Where in the world do we not have low cost housing?? The stadium is located in Surulere and that’s what really matters. The  last time I checked Surulere is one of the most vibrant towns in Lagos Nigeria. The stadium have hosted various international events in recent past. Even though it was neglected for some time, but now it’s been refurbished and cleaned out. It is a welcome development that the SuperEagles are returning to Lagos in a long time. Hopefully the National stadium across the TBS will be completed soon and the SuperEagles can now have a permanent home.
