The United States Tennis Association on Thursday announced the largest player compensation package in professional tennis history, reaching $108 million at the 2026 U.S. Open.
Singles champions will take home $5.5 million each, while main-draw first-round losers receive $140,000. Both figures represent all-time highs in Grand Slam history.

The announcement arrived alongside the launch of a unified Grand Slam Player Council, designed to give competitors a stronger voice regarding future compensation and tournament operations.
“This is a significant first step in a multi-year investment in athletes as the U.S. Open continues to be the best economic opportunity for players and the most valuable platform in tennis for players, fans and partners,” tournament director Craig Tiley told US Open.
“We are proud to deliver record-setting prize money and expanded player benefits as well as providing a new platform to work together with players.”

The total $108 million commitment includes $101 million in direct prize money plus $7 million dedicated to player welfare contributions, stipends, and a new $2 million Player Support Program.
The U.S. Open main draw runs Aug. 30-Sept 13.
