Canada’s Leylah Fernandez is confident ahead of her Saturday’s US Open Women’s Singles final against Britain’s Emma Raducanu at the Flushing Meadows, New York City.
The world anticipates a great all-teenage US Open Women’s Singles final – the eighth since the Open Era of the competition, but the first in the US Open since home girl, Serena Williams, edged out Swiss teen, Martina Hingis.
To reach this year’s US Open Women’s Singles final, Fernandez defeated three top-five stars, including world number two, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, whom she beat 7-6 4-6 6-4 . Raducanu defeated Greece’s Maria Sakkari 61 6-4 to reach the final.
“Impossible is nothing. Like my dad would tell me all the time there’s no limit to my potential to what I can do,’ Fernandez who turned 19 on Monday September 6 told journalists during her post-match press conference.

“Nothing’s impossible. There’s no limit to what I can do. I’m just glad that right now everything’s going well.”

The current WTA Tour champion also talks up her progress in the US Open as ‘margical’, a winning form she is raring to bring on against Raducanu in the final.
“I think I’ve been doing some things
incredible. One word that really stuck to me is ‘magical’ because not only is my run really good but also the way I’m playing right now,” Fernandez stated.
“I’m just having fun, I’m trying to produce something for the crowd to enjoy. I’m glad that whatever I’m doing on court, the fans are loving it and I’m loving it, too. Well sait’s magical.”
Fernandez also recalls that when in Grade Six, a teacher’s lowly appraisal of her tennis talent became her personal motivation. She was advised by her female teacher to discard tennis and focus on education.
“I’m just glad that she told me that because every day I have that phrase in my head, saying that I’m going to keep going, I’m going to push through, and I’m going to prove to her everything that I’ve dreamed on, I’m going to achieve them. I think now, I can say that I’ve done a pretty good in achieving my dreams.,” Fernandez concluded.
