Vemard Africa Football Club will engage Enyimba International in an exhibition match at the Neros Stadium, Nanka today
(Friday) February 14, 2020 to mark the official unveiling of the club, Completesports.com reports.
The club is the brainchild of Chidi Emmanuel Okonkwo, former chairman of Delta Force of Asaba.
Aside the friendly match against NPFL title holders and Nigeria’s most successful club, Enyimba, it was gathered that two former Super Eagles players, Pastor Taribo West and Victor ‘Prince of Monaco’ Ikpeba, are scheduled to be part of the epic event.
“This club is for the people of Anambra state. It is not personal to me or Akonam, or Chief Odenigbo Nanka (Chief Paully Emenike). It is community driven, just that I’ve come home to contribute my quota to the game here in my state,” Okonkwo said at a press briefing.

“Sixty percent of the players would be sourced from here in the state and our desire is to give them future in their chosen career,” Okonkwo, a former manager of Black Swallows FC, Swaziland added.
With massive experience in football management from Ghana and Swaziland, Okonkwo says he is not afraid to take up the role, stressing that Vemard Africa FC is cut out for excellence, driven by the vision to be the best they aspire to be.
“Vemard Africa FC is not just entirely new. We have been around for a while but in Enugu and I must say we have produced some players who are currently playing in some top teams in the country.
“One of our cardinal objectives is to impact on Anambra youths even though we did not start here. In doing so, we will be guided by our vision which is to provide a platform for Anambra youths.
“However, as a model club, we want to say that our target for now is to fight our way to the second tier league, Nigeria National League, NNL”.
Vemard Africa FC will participate in this year’s Nationwide League One (NLO).
The club will also conduct interview for the position of a media officer.
