Arsenal legend Patrick has backed the current Gunners squad to dominate the Premier League for years to come.
After finishing second in the last three seasons, Arsenal were eventually
crowned Premier League champions, beating Manchester City to the title.
It was the first time Arsenal would win the topflight since 2004 under legendary French manager Arsene Wenger.
Vieira, who was part of Wenger’s side that won the league title three times, expressed hope that the current side can go on to achieve what he and his teammates could not do during their time.
“I hope the current Arsenal team can do that because we couldn’t do that in our time,” Vieira was quoted on the X handle of Arsenal News Channel.
“If you look at the current squad they are really quite young but do have experience and talent. There’s no reason why they can’t dominate the Premier League for the upcoming years. Arsenal’s squad, with the stability they have, can dominate the Premier League in the years coming.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal can go on and do the double as they will take on holders Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final next Saturday in Budapest, Hungary.
The last time the Gunners reached the Champions League final was in 2006, when they lost 2-1 to a Ronaldinho-inspired Barcelona side.
Now, they have the opportunity to clinch a first-ever Champions League title and become the second team from London – after Chelsea – to secure the trophy.
