Aston Villa’s summer recruitment drive shows no signs of abating after reports they are now keen to sign West Brom winger Matt Phillips. Having already signed 10 players since the end of last season, the West Midlanders may be looking to add another, with Football Insider suggesting Dean Smith has his eyes on the Baggies’ Scotland international wide man.
Having played 95 times for Albion in all competitions, Phillips is one of their key players and it remains to be seen if he wants to continue in the Championship. The former Queens Park Rangers star will fall out of contact at the end of next season and so can walk away for nothing – a scenario that West Brom will not want to see happen as, as 28, he could still command a decent transfer fee.
With more than 100 top-flight appearances under his belt at Blackpool, Rangers and the Hawthorns, he would be a welcome addition to Smith’s ranks, and could be the 12th new arrival if Marvelous Nakamba also moves to Villa Park from Brugge.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
