The Confederation of African Football, CAF has fixed October 29, 2026, for the completion of the disputed WAFU-B final between Nigeria’s Edo Queens and Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa.
The final ended in a 2-2 draw after regulation time, with Edo Queens initially emerging champions following a 4-1 victory in the penalty shootout.
However, Ampem FC lodged a petition with CAF, arguing that the match officials erred by proceeding directly to penalty kicks without first playing extra time.
The Ghanaian side maintained that the competition’s regulations required 30 minutes of extra time in the event of a draw, with penalty kicks to follow only if the deadlock remained unresolved.
CAF upheld the petition and ordered the outstanding 30 minutes to be played at a neutral venue in Cairo, Egypt, on October 29.
In response, Edo Queens announced their acceptance of CAF’s decision, confirming that the team would depart for Cairo on Monday, October 26, 2026.

In a statement signed by the club’s media department and made available to Completesports.com, Edo Queens said the outcome of the appeal was not what they had hoped for.
However, following consultations with the club’s board, the Edo State Government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the team decided to accept the ruling in the interest of sporting fairness and to ensure that the contest is settled on the pitch.
“Our mission remains unchanged — to fight, to win and to secure our place in the CAF Women’s Champions League,” the club stated.
Edo Queens also acknowledged the disappointment among their supporters, noting that they shared the fans’ determination to see the matter resolved on the pitch.
“We have chosen to move forward with courage, discipline and resilience,” the statement added.
The club expressed appreciation to its supporters and the media for their backing throughout the appeal process.
Edo Queens further assured that the players and technical crew remain focused and ready to represent Edo State and Nigeria with pride when they travel to Egypt for the decisive encounter.
