Nigeria’s Flying Eagles trio Muiz Adeleke, Oraro Lucky and Odinaka Alfred have been included in the WAFU B U-20 Team of the Tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, completesports.com reports.
The Team of the Tournament, which is in a 4-4-2 formation, was unveiled on the WAFU B U-20 X handle on Tuesday.
Champions, Burkina Faso dominated the best eleven with five players followed by the Flying with three players, Côte d’Ivoire had two while Niger Republic produced one.
Alfred is included in central defence in a back four, Lucky is in the centre of the midfield four while Adeleke makes up one of the front two.
Adeleke finished top scorer at the regional championship with five goals.
Unfortunately, his goals was not enough to help the Flying Eagles defend their title as they lost 4-1 to Burkina Faso in the final on Sunday.
It was the second meeting between the two teams in the tournament, with the Junior Stallions recording a 2-0 in their final group stage clash.
Burkina Faso’s win in the final means they secure the sole ticket to next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
The Flying Eagles began their campaign at the WAFU B tournament with a 4-2 win against Ghana, thrashed Togo 3-0 before the loss to Burkina Faso.
In the semifinal against Côte d’Ivoire, the Flying Eagles won 4-3 on penalty shootout after 90 minutes and extra-time finished 2-2.
However, they could not avenge their group stage defeat to Burkina Faso who maintained their dominance with an emphatic 4-1 win.
