Waldrum: Super Falcons Will Bounce Back From South Africa Defeat

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has backed his team to bounce back from Monday’s defeat to the Banyana Banyana of South Africa, reports Completesports.com.

The holders fell to a 2-1 defeat against Desiree Ellis’ side in the Group C encounter at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

Both sides cancelled each other out in the first half, but South Africa took the lead through Jermaine Seoposenwe on the hour mark.

Hilda Magaia added the second with a finish two minutes later.

Rasheedat Ajibade reduced the deficit with an incredible finish in the 92nd minute.

“Despite the loss, we are still positive in camp. It is obviously the first game of the tournament so we have to go back and regroup,”Waldrum was quoted by CAFonline.

“We have to increase our urgency in the fighting spirit because we are encouraged by it. We have to play the way we played in the last 10-15 minutes so that we get going.”

Complete sports , you got it wrong! Botswana defeated Burundi 4 goals to 2 and the Nigeria Falcons should better work harder because those Botswana girls no that a draw against Nigeria will likely see them through to the next round, so Nigeria should play with urgency and determination against Botswana if they hope to qualify out of there group. Thanks

We are blessed with talented players as a nation and this has made us so lazy on the field of play. We want to win African trophies and the mentality of the white man. I sorry, it will never happen. Our girls lost the match from the midfield. They couldn’t match the physical and fitted south Africans. The mild field was below poor, and the coach couldn’t make changes on time to rectify the issue. From my watch point there was i could see that we have lost the match from the first 10mins. We are very far from winning 10th trophy if we continue like this. The level of female football have improved in Africa and we need to wake up. Osoala got her injury because she went soft. In Europe it is ok, however it is not accepted in Africa. The same is happening with our super eagles, not body make to win balls, our players shadow mark and opponents take advantage of their simple game play. The only man today playing like the 94″ set is Ndidi, that is why went he didn’t show up our midfield and defence collapsed. We won 10- 0 and people were celebrating. Nobody took time to watch and analyse, the different department of the game, the transition of play and how we get balls from opponents. We are five times champions of u17 because we raised boys who are ready to fight on the pitch as Africans with addition to their skillful play and not “jojoba football ” if this is not changed super eagles is still far from winning any trophy in Africa. This is the reason why they can play World powers in football like France,Argentina, England etc and the difference will not be much, however they struggle to beat the least team in Africa. Brethren I AM ANGRY

Coach stop deceiving yourself it is normal that a winning team will defend its lead and not attack with ten minutes left. Let us stop using lies to cover truth because your players are not playing with zeal due to many factors such as poor fitness and profligacy in Attack.

The changes he made brought some life into the team, even at 2nil South Africa was bossing the game until he brought in this lady can’t remember her name, she came in place of Chikwelu she was a very good ball carrier, distributor was also full of energy, apparently, her energy levels matched that of the South Africans wondered what a player like that was doing on the bench.
Though the substitutions was made too close to the end of proceedings which was a flaw.
The two attackers who played either sides of Oshoala was poor, they had no skills no intent and lacked endeavours which was why we where poor on the night until they were substituted then the likes of Francisca Odega who possesses natural football skills came in we came alive.
The problem we had was using the wrong personnel.
The coach will know his proper lineup as the team progresses,by the time they get to the knockout stages they will be unplayable,I hope so.
It’s better to start poorly and build from your mistakes than start like a house on fire and not able to keep the fire burning. Most times teams like that get burned out and sapped in the later stages.
We may not win the cup which is inevitable we would be stopped at some point,it’s a natural thing others will be champions too and we are able to also reclaim it in future tournaments.
Failure is natural it helps a team to put things right what matters now is qualification for the mundial. We should be more concerned with qualifying for the world cup that itself is an achievement if we are able to win the cup then a plus for the team.
