Warwickshire Trio Sign New Deals

Warwickshire trio Tim Ambrose, Ryan Sidebottom and Alex Thomson have signed contract extensions with the County Championship side. Former England wicketkeeper Ambrose has put pen to paper on a deal that runs until the end of the 2020 season, while pace bowler Sidebottom and all-rounder Thomson have extended for a further two years.

Warwickshire sports director Paul Farbrace is particularly delighted by the renewal of 36-year-old Ambrose, who made his last Test appearance for England in 2009 and has been part of the set-up at Edgbaston since joining from Sussex ahead of the 2006 County Championship season.

“It’s a welcome boost for the club to secure new deals with players of the calibre of Tim, Ryan and Alex,” Farbrace confirmed. “Tim continues to be one of the leading wicketkeepers in the domestic game and will go down as a true Warwickshire great when he eventually hangs up his gloves.”

Off-spinner Thomson has been a regular feature in the T20 Blast for Warwickshire this season, while Australia-born Sidebottom has only featured once in the County Championship this season after being ruled out for the rest of the campaign in June with a shoulder injury.
