‘We Achieved Our Goals’ — Peseiro Reflects On Super Eagles’ Performance Against Sierra Leone, Sao Tome

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro is delighted with the team’s positive start to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Completesports.com reports.

The West Africans top Group A with six points from two games.

The Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau occupy second position with four points, while Sierra Leone have one point. Sao Tome are bottom with zero point.

After labouring to a 2-1 home win against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone on matchday one, Peseiro’s charges annihilated Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 at the Adrar Stadium, Agadir on Monday.

The win was the biggest recorded in international football by the Super Eagles.

Peseiro praised his players for their impressive showing in the both games, even as he insisted that the team will get better under his tutelage.

“We achieved our goal of points won, grew as a group and conquered a historical record, always based on fundamental values: team spirit and mutual help.

“We made the Nigerian nation proud. We are focused on improving our work to achieve our goals,” the Portuguese wrote on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles will return to action in the qualifiers with a double-header against Guinea-Bissau in September.

Congrats Jose, I am your fan already. Tactical flexibility, defense splitting passes, excellent crosses. The striker can only do his job with ease. Oliseh of old used to feed Yekini from DM and score. Under Rohr, Ndidi was restricted to only short backward-sideways passes. But Ndidi is creative and a baller.

    • What happened against ghana? Did these set of players drop from the moon. Every nation in Africa can beat sao tome easily. Even guinea Bissau beat sao tome 5-1. Pls make I hear. Play ghana,Cameron,Egypt,Tunisia,Senegal, ivory coast etc, and I will take u seriously. #stopbullyingsmallteams….lol

Didn’t Ghana struggle to beat STP by a mere one gaol margin? Be taken over by pride, we are coming for you.

      • pompei 2 years ago

We lost partly due to poor coaching.
With Rohr, we would have beaten Ghana.
With Peseiro, we will beat Ghana.
We are coming for you! Hahahaha!

      • I know for sure, that you will take the fact that you drew with Nigeria 1-1, and that took you to the world cup to your grave when you are over 90 years old. In other words, we will never hear the last of it. Keep making noise.

There are no small teams when it comes to football

They can parade the beat BOKOM players and Ghana with decent team will still beat the hell out of them referring to what their minister said hahaha

Go and deal with yr low quality black stars and be more concerned about how u will beat Comoros and solve the problem of flood taking over Accra, than to talk here.
Ghana is a dot where Nigeria is, and we don’t see you as a threat in our quest to win the world cup

    • But under him Ndidi is now giving defense splitted passes and created a lots of assist. Must you display your stupidity in public because of hatred and bitterness.

    Congrats to coach Peseiro.
He has won his first 2 competitive battles. However the biggest, toughest battle lies ahead.
THE BATTLE TO COLLECT HIS SALARY.
Let’s hope the powers that be who are in charge of his paycheck don’t start getting any ideas. Let them not frustrate him to the point of him quitting. It is unlikely that Peseiro will show the kind of patience that Rohr had.

You are spot on. Aside the money issue, the former coach struggled in using the best tactics to unlock defences and would rather resort to blaming his players for being average as well as not being world class. His ardent supporters believed his theorem and lost confi on the team

Now we have someone who has seen the difference in quality between the SE,Venezuela and Saudi he had managed before. Any sane coach knows that NIGERIA is blessed with abundant quality talent except Rohr. All the coach needed is tactical acumen to prosecute matches, even Keshi of blessed memory knew this and won AFCON. Not one rubbish, disillusioned coach labeling our ONLY BRAND TO THE WORLD AVERAGE PLAYERS

Bravo Jose Peseiro with this great result and your so excellent tactical acumen which controlled and ruled the match. Mr. Yaw I say to you this Super Eagles which we know , if they now encouter Ghana or Tunisia, Algeria, Comeroon, Senegal I think they will beat them, why? because there are many things changed in technical and tactical thoughts and performance all players defend togther and attack togther, there is a solidarity and unite in SE team, there is tactical thoughts which Mr. Peseiro perform on the team which he accrued their fruits on the tow matches; Yaw SE will revolt in comming Afcon. i Cote De Ivore then you will see.

    Folks,
How can we bring this guy to Jose Paseiro’s attention. I believe if this guy is given the confidence and opportunity, he’d break into that SE team.
