Webb Denies Sharing Bed With Sir Ferguson

Former Premier League referee, Howard Webb has revealed that he has never shared a bed with Sir Alex Ferguson” the legendary Manchester United boss.

This is despite the jibes the referee, who is said to be on his way back to the Premier League, received.

Webb was in the English topflight for 11 years, taking charge of 296 games.

And then there was a notion that the referee was essentially a Manchester United’s man and favoured them in matches.

For instance, In January 2011, Liverpool winger Ryan Babel was fined after taking to Twitter to post a photoshopped picture of Webb wearing a United shirt.

The then Netherlands international had captioned the post: “And they call him one of the best referees? That’s a joke. SMH [shake my head].”

And Webb, who is reportedly returning to the Premier League, said he never for once supported United in his autobiography.

Writing in ‘The Man in the Middle’, his autobiography, Webb, who is also a former police officer wrote: “Let’s get something straight, once and for all.

“Contrary to what you might have seen on the internet, I never shared a bed with Sir Alex Ferguson.

“There is no statue of me outside Old Trafford. My kids are not called Rio, Wayne and Cristiano.

“There is no Red Devil tattoo inked on my left buttock. The only United I have ever supported – hand on heart – is of the Rotherham variety.

“And that’s the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
