‘We’II Fight For Every Ball’ — Eguavoen Declares Super Eagles Readiness To Beat Cheetahs

Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has declared his team is in Abidjan to beat the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

A point will be enough for the Super Eagles to secure their place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals to be hosted by Morocco.

Eguavoen however said they want maximum points from the game.

“We’ll fight for every ball and for every point, and that’s what we want to do tomorrow (today),”he told the Super Eagles media.

“In respect to that, Benin is not a pushover, but we will work hard to make sure we achieve our objective.”

Eguavoen also reckoned the Cheetahs head coach Gernot Rohr, who managed the Super Eagles for around six years is familiar with the team.

The former defender however insisted they know what to expect from their opponent as well.

“We worked with Gernot Rohr for so many years. He was our head coach, and he’s a very good one, no doubt. He knows us in and out, he’s part of us, but we know him inside out as well,” he added.

“We know what he’s capable of, and he knows Nigeria is a country you don’t toil with. We respect them, and we’ll play with the mindset that we come into games with and that’s to win, but it’s easier said than done.”

I am happy with the form of several players. Players like chukwueze who has seen a resurgence of form, starting games for AC milan. Osimhen and luku have been painting Europe with goals. Both scoring braces back to back.

Iwobi is another who is playing his best football and Ola Aina has been in scintillating form, whilst Okoye has been descent in front of goal. I expect a convincing win tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing the new guy Osho. I would have loved to see uche chrisantus in the team . I believe having him the 8 position will give our midfield a new dimension. He is a physical specimen with great technique and energy . If I was alhassan, I will be worried because once that dude gets his chance then it will be difficult to displace him. Having Said that , Alhassan is an amiable guy and a good footballer in his own right but uche is slightly better.

One player I think does not deserve to be in the team is Sadiq Umar.It is painful to watch a talented footballer waste away due to bad attitude. How a serial bench warmer gets the nodd ahead of other Nigerian strikers doing well in Europe beats me. To add insult to injury, he shows up late, very unprofessional! Orban is another who seems to have a bad attitude despite immensely talented, attitude is everything.
