Werner On Brink Of Returning To Former Club Leipzig

German forward Timo Werner is set to leave Chelsea and return to his former club RB Leipzig on a permanent deal.

According to Italian Journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Werner will return to Leipzig after two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

“Leipzig are set to sign Timo Werner from Chelsea, here we go! Been told it will be a permanent deal and NOT loan. Werner will leave Chelsea.

“Now final details being discussed – it’s done, personal terms are agreed since one month,” Romano tweeted.

Werner joined Chelsea in 2020 and helped the club win the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Meanwhile, Callum Hudson-Odoi has told Chelsea he wants to leave this summer and a number of Premier League clubs are vying for his signature.

The 21-year-old was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s matchday squad as his side got their 2022/23 season underway with a 1-0 victory over Everton.

Hudson-Odoi has made 126 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 16 goals, since making his debut in the 2017/18 season.

He has never quite managed to cement a regular starting place in the team after Antonio Conte handed him his first appearance.

In January 2019, Bayern Munich made multiple transfer bids for the winger and they made a number of very public statements about him.

Hudson-Odoi also handed in a transfer request himself.

The following summer, the Bayern pursuit continued but new opportunities presented themselves with Frank Lampard being hired as manager.

He penned a new five-year contract in September 2019, ending Bayern’s interest.

Tuchel began playing him more regularly when he replaced Lampard, but the signing of Raheem Sterling this summer has seen him fall further down the pecking order.

Leicester and Newcastle are also clubs that have been linked with a move for the winger.
