Why Ferguson Left Man United In 2013 –Rooney

Derby County manager, Wayne Rooney, has revealed the real reason Sir Alex Ferguson left Manchester United.

According to the former Manchester United striker, Ferguson ‘got out’ of the club as ‘quick as he could’ once he realised the club was in decline.

Ferguson, who spent 27 years at Old Trafford, retired in 2013 and he left a title-winning team for his successor, David Moyes.

In 2010, Rooney asked Manchester United to let him join another club, questioning United’s ambition

The former England striker then fell out with Ferguson again during the Scot’s final year at Old Trafford, when he once again asked to depart.

Rooney, who is Man United’s all time highest goalscorer, was unhappy that the club allowed Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez to leave the club in 2009.

Then Ferguson managed to help Manchester United win two league titles in the next four years but Manchester City were on the rise and Rooney says the Scot dumped United knowing they were in decline.

“Actually, if you look five years down the line from that meeting – Alex Ferguson knew where the club was going and he got out of there as quickly as he could, and they’re still picking up the pieces now,” Rooney was quoted by Metro.
