Why I Can Never Represent Ghana – Southampton Star

Why I Can Never Represent Ghana – Southampton Star

Southampton defender, Mohammed Salisu has rejected an opportunity to play his international football with Ghana.

He turned down a potential call-up to Ghana’s Black Stars ahead of the anticipated 2022 World Cup playoff matches with West African rivals Nigeria in March.

Salisu, who was born to Ghanaian parents in Ghana, cited an injury the first time he was called up by the Ghana Football Association, GFA, during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

And now, Alhaji Grusah, a Ghanaian football administrator, said the Southampton star has warned him to stay away from his matter.

Grusah told Atinka FM that “The Black Stars Chairman tasked me to speak to Salisu because he’s from Kumasi. I called his dad and he linked me to him.

“Salisu flatly told me to stay away from his matter. He questioned me that if he was my son, would I advise him to play for Ghana?”

He vowed never to call the player on this matter again, adding that he does not know what problem the 22-year-old has with the Ghana FA.

      ACCORDING TO “BRILA SPORTS”

“Cyriel Dessers says he’s not happy at Feyenoord, despite enjoying a good spell in front of goal.

The striker has scored numerous goals for the club, but insisted, he’s not happy with the lack of enough playing time on the pitch.

Dessers signed for Feyenoord on loan last summer from Racing Genk and was hoping to get more minutes under his belt, but has largely been used as a substitute, by manager Arne Slot.

The Belgian-born Super Eagles forward likened his situation at the Club to when he was playing second fiddle to Paul Onuachu at Racing Genk.

“Despite the fact that my statistics are good, I am not completely satisfied. Everything is positive, except for the number of playing minutes I get,” Dessers said in Extra Time.

“Apparently I always have the bad luck that I have to compete against very strong competitors. At Genk, I played against a phenomenal Onuachu who became the top scorer. At Feyenoord, the same is happening with Bryan Linssen. Actually unimaginable.” He said.

Feyenoord has the option to sign the striker permanently at the end of the season, but it remains unclear if, Dessers would be willing to commit his future to them”.

However, this is getting out of hand. CSN and other sports news papers should help Dessers by calling NFF attention to his situation.

He deserves to be in Cameroon to represent Nigeria but coach Eguavoen did not give him the opportunity to prove his worth.

As the world cup qualifiers getting nearer, the two strikes we have now are Osimhen and Dessers. Not even Ighalo and those strikers that coach Eguavoen took to Cameroon can compete with Dessers. Dessers must represent Nigeria.

Please do something to help this young striker so that he won’t regret chosen Nigeria over Belgium. This is what I can do to help Dessers. Do your CSN. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • dessers need to be tested first. Enough of shouting the names of players that have not been tested yet in the national team. Same way we shouted awoniyi and sodiq. Well I am still on self imposed strike since we lost to Tunisia. Ire o.

Hahahaha!!! Sorry O Christian Ministry. This one is KESE KESE. KASA KASA is on the way if we can’t learn from our self destructions.

        • Omo9ja 2 years ago

Which one is KESE KESE and KASA KASA @Ayphillydegreat? Lolz.

Did you enjoy what you saw in Cameroon?

We played total football and Mr. No nonsense is the only coach in the history of Nigeria football to kept you people silent.

Best coach of the tournament so far.

With the additions of Amunike and Egbo, Peter Rufai and Enyeama, kai, you will see KASA KASA BABA KESE KESE.

You Oga Rohr followers will have no choice then but to apologize and support our own. God bless Nigeria!!!

          • Ayphillydegrea 2 years ago

That’s why you couldn’t go past the round of 16 at ordinary AFCON with your own Lmao!! Your TikiTaka could only take you past the group stage of ordinary AFCON Na OGUN GO KILL YOU WITH FAILING WITH FAILING WITH YOUR OWN.

      • Omo9ja 2 years ago

@Christian ministries Nigeria, how would you compare Dessers to Awoniyi and Sodiq?

Go and read more about Dessers if you doesn’t know him. He is a reliable and dependable striker. Very fast, intelligent and very deadly in front of goal. I have been following Dessers for so long and I am highly disappointed that coach Eguavoen left him out of his squad. If you don’t know Dessers then you are just started watching football recently. No disrespect to you sir but that is the bitter truth period.

The strikers coach Eguavoen took to Cameroon eventually failed him. Such is life. No time to waste time. Nigerians want to see Dessers in the Super Eagles during the world cup qualifiers. Enough of recycling players at the national team. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

        • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

You are very sick in the head Awoniyi and Sadiq play regularly for their clubs. Your Dessers is a bench warmer. He couldn’t displace Onuachu who is not even better than Sadiq at club level. Na ṢANGO GO USE THE BLOOD OF THOSE INVOLVED IN TAKING OUR FOOTBALL BACK TO 1982 take shower las las.

          • Omo9ja 2 years ago

@Ayphillydegreat, you children of nowadays have no respect for elders.

Don’t be disrespectful kę. When I was your age, I don’t talk like this.

            However,

“You are very sick in the head Awoniyi and Sadiq play regularly for their clubs”.

Plying regularly for club doesn’t mean those strikers are ahead of Dessers.

We saw it in Cameroon and they made Super Eagles nocked out of the Afcon because the strikers failed to replicates their form.

A bench warmer Dessers was good against the Same Tunisia and he was sharp and almost scored in a friendly match we played against Tunisia.

Don’t tell me what I know Ayo. Dessers and Osimhen should be ready and available for the world cup qualifiers Shikena. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

      • Your eyes Don dey clear small small. To say that same Awoniyi and Sadiq was what Rohr was being victimised repeatedly on this platform. I used to say it that Nigeria fans will push you and turn their back on you. Thought they said Eguavon heed their calls on Awoniyi and Sadiq?

    • Dennis 2 years ago

@omo9ja where did Mr no nonsense lead us to with total football?

      • Dennis 2 years ago

@omo9ja you said the strikers failed to replicate their club form. If it was rohr who was in change and we lost to a second string Tunisian side coached by an apprentice, you would insult him and say he couldn’t bring out the best in awoniyi, sadiq umar and Nwakali. You really have no shame. Debutante like Gambia have qualified for the quarter finals but your Demi god couldn’t. You castigate a man who finished 3rd but praise the man who finished 16th. When Rohr took over the super eagles job, we were 16th in Africa. When he left, he left us at 5th. Let’s patiently wait to see where total football will put us in the next ranking. If a failure like rohr can come 5th, total football would put us 1st.

And According to Man wey Sabi(Ifeanyi Udeze) on brila it has been reported that Majority of the Ghanaian players go to tournaments with charms, fetish items. And they wake up at mid night to start doing some sacrifice with their spiritual Godfathers. That alone can be scary to some players who don’t believe in all those practice. So I believed that might form the reason for him refusing to play for his fatherland.

    • Mahmud Shuaib 2 years ago

I wont dispute that @MONKEY POST…wait, am I actually on AGREEMENT with you as pertaining a matter here? Lol. That’s the beauty of human nature. We will always find COMMON GROUNDS.

Now back to SALISU’s self imposed exile and your theory. It was common knowledge in EAGLES then such that some players complained of picking injuries or suddenly falling sick each time they came for camping.

Dont want to mention names but I know a couple of our ex internationals who were notorious for such acts in years past

    • John-I 2 years ago

They believe in efficacy of charms and they do that more when playing Nigeria. I’ve said it before, Ghanaians will prefer to lose against Djibouti or Sao Tome than lose to Nigeria. That’s why they employ every tactic (including charms) to beat Nigeria. While Super Eagles always see it as a brotherly affair, Ghanaians take it like a world war, that’s why they have 21 wins against Super Eagles. The hate is very pronounced. But Juju no dey play football, God pass dem.

I found it funny that Super Eagles couldn’t deal with the physicality of ordinary Tunisia, what chance do they have against Ghanaians who’ll come with karate-boots and boxing gloves? There won’t be VAR in Kumasi, so Super Eagles must drop those stupid ‘fine-boy’ and ‘Instagram-football’ and be ready for war.

The only way to beat Ghana in Kumasi or get a favorable result is to approach the game with similar mentality as Ghanaians. Nothing more!

If una like, mek una dey dia dey joke!

      • Ayphillydegreat 2 years ago

JohnUC aka Game147. I sight you my brother from KON and Aplays days. Wetin you still Dey do for that Ghana sef?? Anyway Accra is a cool city. I had a lot of fun the last time I went there. You’re absolutely right about the physicality of the Tunisians I was surprised the SuperEagles couldn’t cope with them. That’s because our midfield was very thin. Ndidi and Aribo were ran ragged and the wings had been clipped. I was expecting another body in midfield like Nwakali or Onyeka and that’s a game Iwobi should’ve started.

This is why I agree with @Greenturf that if we don’t have a tactically sound head on the technical bench against Ghana we might as well kiss the WorldCup ticket goodbye. Let them go and play TikiTaka against Ghana. They will be watching the WorldCup only on their TVs without our flag in Qatar. Anyway the next Mundial is in North America. With 9 African teams we should be there.

This cycle has been sacrificed by self destruction let’s just focus on Ivory Coast 23 and WorldCup 26.

        • John-I 2 years ago

@Ayphillydegreat – LOL, my brother. I still dey here o, I’m partly Ghanaian bro but my loyalty is with Super Eagles. Even the comments they make on the streets can tell you what they think about us.
Anyway, no one should take the recent negative crises about them seriously, that’ll have no effect on that day. Our players must go there and get the job done! We need Osimhen for that game. Ajayi should also start, we must get a better keeper too. We need highly physical players for that game – no-nonsense.

Mek Super Eagles help we wey dey live here o. Because if we lose eh, dem go laugh us for 10 years lol

Aside football rivalry, Ghana is a nice place to be. A Cool country where you can stroll around midnight without harassment or police quizzing you for iner-light!

  • SD Special Delivery Jones 2 years ago

Now lolly livered fans are scared of Ghana. I laff in Germany. For say Rohr dey, we for beat Ghana with a game to spare. All you Rohr haters, how market?

    • John-I 2 years ago

Didn’t Rohr lose against CAR at home? No be Rohr dey when Siere Leone came back from 4-goals-down to equalise 4-4 (in our backyard)??? Abegi.
Eguaveon is still better for me. Losing against Tunisia doesn’t change anything. CIV and Algeria (former champions) have all being knocked out. I’m not a Rohr-hater but Eguaveon played better football in 4 games than Rohr played in 5 years. I’m not being hyperbolic!

      • Marvelous 2 years ago

Yes that was because is easy to qualify in group stage. Better football is not tiki taka or using only wink play.

Where is Egypt in the tournament today? I thought we played better than them.

Where is Tunisia today in the tournament? I thought they qualified as best losers.

Winning matches in group stage and dashing out in ordinary round of 16.

If our qualifying for this tournament and world cup play off was in the hands of Equavon I bet you we wouldn’t have qualified.

Ghanains hate 9ja and 9jerians with a passion and only God and them really know why, my own personal summations lead me to think maybe they have some overwhelming but irrational inferiority complex to Nigerians or they never forgot operation “Ghana must go” even though that was one single isolated thing while they have now had multiple retaliations in many ways and are in fact by way of their irrational hatred still retaliating today so it makes one a little uneasy about those people, the truth however is that they always lose against Nigerians (in the true sense of the word or where/when it really matters) simply because their hatred which is their greatest conviction is also their biggest and most fatal flaw and it weakens their position every single time, imagine you are so stressed and harassed about meeting your opponent that you cannot sleep or rest when the meeting is impending and when D day comes around you load up with charms and arrive with heavy spirits and fatigued minds and in an unusually/unnaturally aggressive state with your mental capacity all over the shop, while your opponent Nigeria is completely unaware of your disposition of fear and hatred and completely ignorant of your buried and worn charms but arrives refreshed, the boys completely relaxed and well rested having had a very good training session a few hours prior and everyones mind sharp and focused on the task in hand with Favour and Grace on our side because we’re not that desperate and have more lofty goals and ambitions like for example planning to give the jealous dark stars the biggest and best hiding of their bad belle lives – I’m talking like 7-0 right there in Accra abi if dem need am we fit go hammer them 5-0 in Kumasi na anyhow belle face yash must open! Mtcheeew!

@Omo9ja So Eguavoen that had one of the best teams (in terms of squad) who get kicked out is/was the best coach at Afcon? lmaoo. Illiteracy and ignorance is not good o. The coach of the Gambian team that carried a team that are ranked 150th by FIFA to the RO16 hasn’t performed better than Eguavoen?
