Why I Joined Enyimba -Finidi

New Enyimba coach, Finidi George has revealed that he’s ready to restore the team back to winning ways.

The former Super Eagles star, who was part of the team that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia, stated this in his first official interview on Wednesday.

He said: “I have to say it’s a great opportunity for the club to have this confidence in me. I want to thank the chairman, the members of the board, and the supporters for even thinking about me.

“On my own part, I will be here to just work and do the job. It’s never going to be easy, but I’m here to work and make the team win.”

Finidi is replacing coach Fatai Osho who led the Aba Elephants to a second-place finish in the recently concluded 2020-21 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League.

I wish you the best Mr. Finidi. Go out there and get the job done. I believe that you have what it takes to deliver. Amunike did it. You can do it. We are solidly behind you. God is in control. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

Second place finish and they are playing in CAF Confederations Cup. Oga Mumuni Alao needs to fire some of this writers.

On a lighter mood, congratulations Finito!!!

Finito came in as a home based player against Burkina Faso and we won 7 – 1. Whom has or did Rohr discovered in 5 years from the league. Rohr is a colossal waste as we used to say in the days of Amodu, gather and play Coach. Maintaining status quo.

Hahahahaha….you think we are still stuck in 1993….???? LMAOOOo. Even the president of the Nigerian FA is not a supporter of your league anymore…..LMAOOooo

Tell us which of your local league players has been good enough to move to the caliber of club or league Finidi moved straight to in 1993 (and even walked into their starting 11 for the next match) in the last 10 years…..LMAOOoo.

2021 NPFL best defender – trials at Orlando Pirates
2020 NPFL top scorer – Saudi 3rd division
2021 NPFL best SS – Swedish 2nd division
2021 NPFL best CAM – Spanish 2nd division
2021 NPFL MVP – Esperance of Tunisia (after plenty of marketing and PR jobs)

Cant you see that you now have better quality of players in your league now than in 1993…? Cant you see your clubs perform better on the continent now than in 1993…..LMAOOoo

Those are the people whom Rohr should be picking ahead of the likes of Ejuke and the rest of other young talented Nigerian footballers lighting up Europe every weekend.

The people Rohr has been picking so far are not Nigerians…..LMAOOooo

Whom has Rohr discovered….? You take a look at your national team today and ask yourself who is there now that was not there in 2016, and ask yourself that your silly question again.

If selecting and playing the BEST Nigerian footballers available is what makes Rohr a colossal waste….please let him remain a colossal waste.

Kindly remember to always switch off your TV anytime SE plays, till this generation of players “gathered and played” by Rohr will retire from international football….LMAOooo…since they are not Nigerians and aren’t good enough to represent Nigeria…LMAOOoo.

They’ve all ran out of things to criticize Rohr for…..LMAOOoo. Just one victory away to Capeverde with our 2nd string side has shut them all up for good……LMAOOooo

The one who call himself Coache is a colossal waste and probably suffering from amnesia. If not he won’t be spewing this trash. Mind you we know the difference between Coache and Coachie. The former is already a colossal waste, while the later is a true SuperEagles fan.

        • Coache 3 years ago

This is not the Ayphilydegreat we know/knew. May be a COVID induced one or someone stole his identity. The former or real one never insults. @Dr Drey kept it simple

          • Ayphillydegreat 3 years ago

It’s impossible for anyone to steal my identity. Even if they do they will be locked out. If a coach that qualified us for 3 straight major tournaments is a colossal waste then you are worst than colossal waste. Whenever you provide us the track record of any achievements you’ve had as a coach maybe we can indulge in a meaningful conversation by then. Abi shebi na Coache you call yourself? Provide us the track record of the kindergarten team you’ve coached to success in your life. Lmao!!! Bunch of bigots.

Finidi developed in Ajax not through the national team. He already was having trials by then. Westerhoff wAs selling players. Is that what you want Rohr to do.

I’m not sure why many people think that Finidi Georges first cap (and goal) for Nigeria was during the 7-1 routing of Burkina Faso on July 27, 1991 (last qualifying game for Senegal’92). Incidentally, Finidi’s first cap (and goal) was still against Burkina Faso, but at an earlier date (exactly one month earlier) on June 27, 1991 during the ECOWAS Tournament hosted in Lagos. The tournament had 5 participating countries – Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Gambia and Burkina Faso. Nigeria featured mainly a home based team but led by Coach Westerhof. In the first game of that tournament, Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 3-0 with Finidi scoring one of the goals. The other goals were scored by Monday Agbontaen and Francis Obinwe. Finidi went ahead to play 3 other games in the tournament, a 2-0 defeat of Gambia, 2 -0 defeat of Mali and a 0-0 draw with Ghana.
The tournament itself was replete with controversies including postponement of the last two games of the preliminary rounds for two days due to heavy rains and flooding in Lagos leading to a change of format midway into the tournament. The original format was supposed to have a round robin involving all the participating teams, after which the top two teams will play the final, and 3rd and 4th placed teams in the group will slug it out for the bronze medal. But due to the two lost days, organisers decided to end the tournament at the round robin stage with the first three placed teams receiving the gold, silver and bronze medals in that order.
I watch in dismay as people keep referring to the 7-1 game against Burkina Faso on July 27, 1991 as Finidi’s first game for Nigeria, and not even the NFA has come out to put the record straight. Except those games were not considered as “officially games” or even friendlies, then then NFA has a responsibility to correct this error about Finidi’s records and also take the issue of record keeping more seriously.

Thanks for pointing that out. Respect but the match against Burkina was his shining light

  • Enyimba is one of not the best league in Nigeria, they have been winning. The ability of oga fini should be put on the scale by taking up the challenge of coaching a clue like sunshine Star, nasarawa it’s, warri wolf, benden insurance etc and use them to win title and not enyimba that you and I know as title contender. SE were never title when GR took over. In fact they can’t even qualify for tournaments let alone win but today no tournament our dear SE have not qualify for since the so called waste has not QUALIFY us for. The same SE that our ex-internationl deserted because they don’t want to fail with the team and we will end up calling them bunch of failures. The waste has rebrand and polish the team now, everybody is now in love with the deserted team. The corner Stone that was rejected has been used to build the house, now everybody is laying claim to the house. Such is life. God bless Nigeria, God bless SE, God bless GR.

I mean to say one of if not the best league

    • So Finidi should solicit to coach those clubs even when
he is not invited, na wao.

  • Do they have the players? I believe Enyimba’s sort after success would start if they recruit better players than we saw at the last champions league.
