Why Iheanacho Has Been Struggling To Score Goals For Super Eagles -Rohr

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has blamed Kelechi Iheancho’s inability to maintain his goal scoring form in the team as a result of the poor state of pitches in the country.

Aside from his double against Liberia in September, Iheanacho has struggled in his matches for the Super Eagles, most recently the doubleheader against The Central African Republic in a 2022 World Cup qualifiers last month.

However, in an interview with Elegbete TV, the German tactician stated that the Nigerian international gives more decisive passes than scoring goals.

“We use Kelechi like he is used in Leicester, like a second striker. He is playing with Jamie Vardy, but he is not starting so much, actually, yeah.”

“He is coming in but not playing all the time. But we try to give him the same opportunity like what he is used to with his club. That’s what we try all the time with the players.

“We had Osimhen, not Vardy, and Kelechi was the second striker, coming sometimes from behind, taking the ball, giving decisive passes like he is doing in his club more and more. He even gives decisive passes than he scores goals, actually.”

“So the real problem is, I think he doesn’t have the same conditions of the pitches and everything in Nigeria like he has in England. It’s a different football,” Rohr added.

Thanks for the update coach. Importantly, also intimate us with your preparations for the match against lone star of Liberia. We have only 7 days to go.

  • Larry 2 years ago

Basket mouth don open mouth again ooooo..
    Excuse, Excuse , Excuse…
Nacho scored two goals against Liberia on the same pitch..
    Just accept the fact that
poor game management, technical deficiency, lopsided and fraudulent selection of players are your quality as a coach. The reason why you will remain trophyless in your career.
Leave Nacho alone and look to Ighalo for goals..
Your technical and tactical deficiencies are responsible for the inability for players to replicate their club performance in SE matches..
Keshi took one of the least valuable teams to the ANC, he utilized his technical and motivational capacity to boost their performance to optimal level and the end is history..
In your case, your five years at the helms of affairs are filled with excuses.. Haha.. my young team, blah blah the pitch, blah blah I’m missing this and that..
Your five years are filled with desperation and no plan for playing patterns and trust in upcoming players for the future.
I’ll advise you to stop listening to picnic and those evil agents that are deceiving you..
Go talk to Westerhof and Bonfere for advice on how to win a trophy with SE..I’m sure they will tell you that overhyping Nogerian players publicly is not the way to go.. Creating competition and making them to sit on the bench/not inviting them whenever they
underperform will send the right message.
I don’t hate you but I can’t and will never love you more than the Super Eagles. Roar, stop listening to Picnic!!
Start talking with Westerhof and Bonfere now!!!

Exactly for me Pinnick is the coach of the Super Eagles. I remember vividly when the clown was saying he told Kelechi or who that he is sure they’ll defeat CapeVerde during half time. I couldn’t hold laughing out loud because I really don’t understand why Pinnick will be manipulating affairs if really we have a Coach!

      • Oakfield 2 years ago

Ur village people I believe actually did something with ur name with likes or dislikes, otherwise, I don’t see any reason why u should ignore the subject matter and start racking ur head bcs of the number of dislikes u get which obviously stems from the useless nature or your posts. U better stop commenting here so that you can have some rest… Lol

  • Presh 2 years ago

The coach gave an honest truth and I agree with him.

  • Samuel 2 years ago

The more reason you should start Ighalo. Odion Ighalo apart from experience, is forceful, rugged and is very familiar with African pitches and defenders. You have got to do everything because as the saying goes, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.

  • @Larry thank you very much for exposing the Fraud in Rohr statement. You will forever prosper In life and your generational wealth will multiply in Jesus name. We need more honest Fans like you.

the same Iheanacho injured himself in the game we lost to CAR in Lagos and Rohr is trying to blind fold me like I am a kid. Who didn’t see that Nigeria actually lost that game because Iheanacho couldn’t come out yes Awoniyi didn’t score but it was his first game if I am not mistaking which is very understandable but everytime he touched the ball you can tell his class and movement he only needed 2 or 3 more games to show his quality. You see bros Rohr is actually not a coach and from this assessment it is clear. How can a whole coach come on air to throw one of your key players and most loyal soldiers under the bus like he has just done with Iheancho this is getting worse. I really hope Iheanacho with all the pressures he has at Leicester Now doesn’t get upset by this.

@Larry let us pose this question to them. All the top performers in The SE now Osimhen, Iwobi, Iheancho, Chukwueze, Ndidi, Aribo Ekong Balogun, Ejuke and so on, where are they playing? Is it not big Leagues or am I mistaking?.

Then the worst performers Musa, SHehu and co where are they playing. Infact Rohr is bringing back another culprit of World Cup 2018 and Afcon 2019 semi’ s who is winding down his Career in Saudi Arabian market league. And dropping players I Big leagues with more potential than some of the best players in the current squad. I.e.. Awoniyi, Dennis and co. Infact Dennis played Iwobi only last week in the prem league and was the standout player in that game with a Man of the Match performance yet he is Dropped for Musa constantly, Rohr then worsens the Blow by recalling Ighalo and making the more priority if the 3 Experience players we currently have still applying themselves Victor Moses, Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo. Whilst Victor Moses is still at the Higher level. And Mikel Obi only left The Rugged Champoinship this year for a lucrative contract in Kuwait. Mind you both of the mentioned experienced players Victor Moses and Mikel Obi are both players who play in Positions SE is lacking and where both more Highly effective than Ighalo during their hay days in SE infcat all of Ighalos main highlights who was responsible for making him look good in his SE haydays was it not Mikel Obi and Victor Moses?..yet he makes Ighalo his priority over VM and Mikel for that matter And, people think Rohr is normal upstairs?. Let them keep decieving themselves

    Then the

    • Then The same Rohr is still coming out to try and make us believe he has not just becoming a doll and talking Robot when, Pinnick personally came out to say he is the one who told Rohr to keep inviting Musa.

Since he can’t think for him self, when this all blows up which it will as it has been written. Rohr will be left to dry and used as the scape goat he is.

I have said my own Rohr Watch out!

    • Dr Banks 2 years ago

Sometimes I wonder if you ever pause for a minute to read what you are about to post, introspect on it before posting.

Rohr concluded……“So the real problem is, I think he doesn’t have the same conditions of the pitches and everything in Nigeria like he has in England. It’s a different football.” Tell me how did he throw Iheanacho under the bus here?

Victor Moses is not interested anymore in SE, so let him be. Mikel has retired honourably, well deservedly and not prematurely, he has paid his dues and he’s enjoying his megabucks in Kuwait now, so let him be. The coaching team and Pinnick believe Ighalo still has something to add to the team, let us wait and see for ourselves what impact he will make rather than the “gloom & doom” picture you are painting.

Dennis had a fallout with the coach by questioning GR why he’s not starting the 2nd leg match against Sierra Leon. That was seen as Petulance and it’s bad for team spirit, when players start questioning the authority of the coach, then the coach loses the dressing room and that only will result in poor result thereof. Team harmony is one area everyone of us believe that Rohr has done a great job so far.

You mentioned correctly that Awoniyi needs 2 or 3 more games to show his qualities and come to his elements in SE colours, yet you want us to then entrust him with such an important win or break matches that could determine our participation in the Mundial? Considering the fact that we are not yet sure of Osimhen’s fitness for the games. What the hell are you smoking these past couple of days???

You are fast becoming another @Omo9ja on this forum, drop this anger and hatred in you for Rohr otherwise you will only give yourself hypertension for nothing.

      • @Dr Banks I will rather Be a @Omo9ja who tells the truth and Shame the devil than a @Dr Banks you talks rubbish to save face for criminals..

Yes he should because if you take the 2 games CAR he played and the Game now Liberia that was 3 games Mr Man. also what is experience i have played football to know that a player can tell what mistakes he made in the last game and can improve on that. Awoniyi knows this because he is a professional and is scoring regularly so I am confident that he would have realised what mistakes he made (which were not much) as Ikpeba pointed out an Iwobi assist would have helped. Moreover he left Eagles camp and continued banging in goals in Germany this month. Meaninnig he will be even sharper than he was last month. Its ball only 11 games played and as people who played sport knows a players is even sharper after 15 games in a season than 11 games at the start of the season.

The fact remains we are not blind Awoniyi didn’t have enough chance to prove his worth Mind you it was only Iheanacho’s Injury that allowed him to play a full half in Lagos. This would have been the Perfect Opportunity to Blood Awoniyi into the team because he is on form. any coach knows that including fans. Keep supporting Rohr.

And Mind you Dennis had every right to query his Non Involvement in Freetown. Because the game was going no where. And, how are you so sure he wasn’t right to query Rohr? because as History shows we drew the game to lowely Sierra Leone and Dennis was not utilised and Dennis now is impressing in England.

The more I read your responses the more you expose your handicapped way of reasoning matters.

        • again where did it say Victor Moses is not interested??????? Did Victor Moses personally tell the Media he was not Interested recently. Did they contact Moses like they did Ighalo??? through numerous phonecalls? even when they released this Idea of bringing Odion back an fans went against it and we suggested Victor Moses instead. Did they attempt to contact Moses. NO!!! they just turned a blind eye to our complaints and kept exonrating Ighalo as if he was some World Beater of a attacker in SE. because of 5 goals which 4 were tap ins created by the briliance of Iwobi, chukwueze and co…

Show me where Victor Moses came out to say he is not interested in Representing SE in the last 2 months since. aslo show me where Rohr and Pinnick made efforts to show they are trying to get Moses back.

FACTS BRO!!!!!!!!!! that is what we deal with here.

@Dr Banks I will advise you stop supporting EVIL!!

      • Gbam@Dr Banks. Everybody wants the young bloods upfront like Awoniyi and Sadiq to come through and establish themselves with the other regulars like Osimhen and Iheanacho. But there’s are 2 critical, make-or-mar matches right in front of us this November.

@Ugo, do you get the real depth of the word, ‘CRITICAL’ or ‘EMERGENCY’? No experiments. No young shall grow gospel or sentiments. You go for your best legs and tools.

Even you @Ugo in your daily work will dig in to find your old and most reliable tools and hands when there’s a major deal or contract at risk of going up in smokes.

Rohr is the guy in charge. He knows everybody. He’s seen everybody in training and understands what each person brings to the field. He’s seen the opponents closely and has played all 3 teams. He thinks he’s lacking a striker’s style (not just a striker – we’re talking style and unique attributes here) that Ighalo embodies well.

If we play Dennis and Awoniyi upfront on November 11 (which will be a foolish risk) and Liberia pulls a draw in Morocco, I wonder if you’ll still keep up this same energy. Why not wait for pre-Afcon camping in December here to see your favourite players in training again?

        • @Kel you see you lost me when you mentioned Morocco. You see @aLL Rohr lovers please stop commenting from hence forth. I will say again MOST OF YOU DON”T FOLLOW BALL AND ALL YOU DO IS WATCH MEDIA PLATFORMS FORM NIGERIA MEDIA OUTLETS.

PLEASE I WOULD LIKE TO ASK IF PEOPLE (Rohr nyash lickers) ARE COMMENTING ONLY DO SO WITHACCURATE FACTS. I as embarrassed for most of you as I am for Pinnick and Rohr.

Can you Imagine @kel says Liberia will play Morocco in our group. and these are the people I have been trying to knack sense in their heads for over 3 days now. Nawa o

          • @Ugo, get yourself updated. Liberia Vs Nigeria on November 11 will be played in Morocco. CAF has banned the Liberian pitch. They were previously hosting their home games in Accra, Ghana but it was moved to Morrocco – just as CAR is hosting their home games in Douala, Cameroun.

In fact, Rohr has directed SE players to report directly for camping in Morocco, not in Lagos. Are you updated now?

Even all the while Ighalo was saying he was undecided and there was so much rant by you and others, I was updating you that the list was already out (though not officially) and Ighalo was in it. yet some of you were saying but “Ighalo said he was undecided.” Lol. Know how to read between the lines in people’s interviews dude or their body language – not just what they say, but what they’re not saying DELIBERATELY.

          • @Kel okay o if they like let them play in Timbuktu for all I care!!

  • @Larry bravo nice talk, you will notice that since super eagle clamb to the 30s position in fifa ranking, the team has not been able to passed the height, it show Rohr game level, as for me i am not satisfied with the way the team is playing at the moment, calling ighalo back to the team shows Rohr game management, that he can not take this team to the next level, i am not blaming him but nff who still want him to continue managing the team, like i said before nff eagles fans want to see her team play complete and pattern football.

You are contradicting yourself here bro @ Bright.

You said “I am not satisfied with the way the team is playing at the moment, calling ighalo back to the team shows Rohr game management”………….So Rohr also wasn’t satisfied, then had an introspection and decided to twig his team by recalling someone that was instrumental to his previous team good performance. But you guys were still not happy. If I were you guys, I will sit back, support and pray for the team success, then come back to comment after the matches in 2 weeks time.

Your rantings on the forum since last 2 days has been annoying to say the least, especially your ring leader @Ugo Iwunze

  • @Larry,China,Ugo why is it that everything this man do or say is not right in your eyes? What has he said that warrant all these yabbing, wailing and gnashing that you guys are found of all this years. It was people like you who are found of complaining that brought about the interview. He was asked why Iheanacho has not been scoring as that was the complain by some fans and he gave his own explanation. Is what he said wrong? Do we have a good stadiums compare to other countries you usually compare our football and performances with? You people should fear God and let the man be is not by force to support SE if you are not satisfy with him handling the team at the moment. You are just waisting your time anyway because your rant can’t go beyond completesports page.Small thing they will say they have the best players playing everywhere in Europe and beyond as if Nigeria is the only country to have that. What do you want countries like Senegal, Morocco, Ivory coast,Algeria etc to say these are even African countries oo. We are talking about team playing on a grazing reserve field, coaches and players not being paid their salaries and allowance as at when due they will not say anything but they want SE to beating every team and the coach winning every matches because they have players others don’t have.yeye people anuofia.

  • Gbenro Awo 2 years ago

    It is already unfortunate.
It is better to replace him with Awoniyi after the doubleheader. At least we were impressed with Awoniyi for the few minutes against CAR in Cameroon. Nigeria pitch or not, Iheanacho cannot perform beyond his expectation.

It’s clearly obvious that your are a very sick miserable puppy. For how long will continue ur frisk search of the internet and ur smelly dust bin for unpopular news about ighalo like a very hungry junkie who lost his syringe to get a quick fix???? Your are gradually becoming a nuisance here.

      • Like I said ENOUGH!!! IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. YOU CAN GO AND DIE if you don’t like it rather Go and ask CSN to Block me for not saving the face of Criminals threathing to down my beloved Darling Super Eagles. I will not stop and will keep at it until your God father gets sense. anumanu…

You want me to start talking tactics for a team I have lost about 60% passion for because of your God Father thinking the team is his. What tactics how Ighalo is going to score a tap in and seal his plane ticket to World Cup at the expense of More deserving players.. or how Rohr raises the Bar for players making the team. But a clubless 40year old for almost a year, who is old forming to be 29 kept getting called up while clubless, But Rohr keeps overlooking Better players. Your Oga also stated that Onuachu should move to a big club bla bla bla and he will get more time, yet Musa is not in a Big League and is still captain?.

@Oakfield to Bloody hell with your type!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Oakfield 2 years ago

It is you that deserves to die bcs ever since news broke about the return of Ighalo the wonder kid, it clearly appears (from the signs and symptoms already manifesting) you’ve begun suffering from self inflicted depression. While others have taken it in good faith knowing fully well that ighalo is a lethal striker that has proven himself over and over again wherever he finds himself (an undisputed fact), your knuckle crack head has refused to assimilate reality. If you’ve lost 60 percent of your passion for the team now that the team is performing (already qualified for afcon with games to spare again and sitting on the world cup qualifying table), I wonder what you lost when ur african guardiaolas were in charge and failed to qualify us back to back for afcon that rohr has made look ordinary. Maybe, u might have gone into coma at the time and suddenly regained consciousness when rohr came around and gave us some hope that has given u the impetus to come out and spew garbage from your smelly mouth. Your miserable wailing
like a dog in heat will not change anything. The best thing u can do for yourself is to turn off ur sugar box tv whenever nigeria is playing or maybe flip your tv channel to telemundo to save u from further depression and possible heart attack or alternatively, visit a beer parlor around and drink to stupor to forget ur misery.

          • @Oakfield If Ighalo Is such a lethal Striker why did Argentina Progress to round of 16 at our Expense in World Cup 2018?.. I will tell you why, because the basket missed and Open Goal at a crucial time in the match that goal would have given us the Upper hand but he missed and here we are again as always in Nigeria celebrating Mediocrity because a couple years have elapsed.. So he will automatically do better even though his profile has rapidly declined since 2018. Insanity definition : “Repeating the same mistake over and over yet expecting a different result”

My Boy!! go and Rest. Or rather drink Palm wine with rat poison like you and your partner in Deludedness like to say.

          • Oakfield 2 years ago

Hahaha…. U see why I said u were mentally sick up stairs? So, bcs ighalo missed a chance at the world cup against Argentina, he has suddenly become a bad player and shouldnt be found close to the team anymore? What about the ones he Scored that propelled us to qualifying for tournies and and helped us win important matches during tournaments? You have suddenly forgotten those ones abi.? Ngwanu, If na like that, USA 94 should’ve been yekini’s last appearance for the super eagles all bcs he lost a couple of chances against Italy. Osimhen and your tin god awoniyi should have no business with the eagles anymore bcs both of them lost glorious chances against CAR, messi shouldve been chased away from the national team after missing a penalty years ago that should’ve earlier given them copa america and then, other world renowned strikers or players who once in their playing days missed a couple of chances. Do you see how ur brains reason anti clockwise? The excuse u cited up there is just very lame and stupid which goes further to expose ur miserable person as a hater.

  • The day Osimhen Leaves SE for the likes of Ighalo. That is the day I will personally go to that SHit house call NFF and deal with Oga Pinnick myself. That one is a FACT bro No CAP!!
