Why Osimhen Will Become Super Eagles Goal Machine -Rohr

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr believes Victor Osimhen has the potential to become Nigeria’s goal machine.

Osimhen, who last season netted 10 goals for Napoli in the Serie A, opened his goal account this season as he netted a brace in the team’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City in the Europa League last week Thursday.

Recall that the Nigerian international also scored a goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Cape Verde in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier and has been Super Eagles main striker.

Reacting to his goal scoring form, the German tactician told Tuttomercatoweb.com that he’s delighted with the progress of Osimhen and believed he woul be a world-class striker.

“Victor is currently one of the best strikers in Europe, but not yet in the world,” Rohr told Tuttomercatoweb.com. “Osimhen is young, ambitious and very motivated.”

“I think he has what it takes to become a great striker, one of the best ever. But he still has to grow.” Rohr added.

“We are very happy with him. Osimhen has made the whole process of the youth teams, already scoring important goals with the senior national team despite his young age,” he remarked.

“Our attack is certainly in good hands, also thanks to Victor.”

Victor is currently one of the best strikers in Europe, but not yet in the world,” Rohr
What is this man smoking? Must you always find excuses at every opportunity?
Mr.Roar, your statement confirms what some of us has always known you to be :A technically bereft coach.
The best strikers in the world are in Europe (Halaand, Lukaku, Kane etc.), Technically, Victor is one of the best striker in Europe.
    Over to you, Rohr supporters..

@ Larry wisdom tells us that once we get to the very top, we then have only one place to start going; DOWN. I am sure you are not wishing for Osimene to start going down at such young age.

Technically bereft but we’ve forgotten where we kept our calculators since this man came on board. Hehehe… It is you that is high on harshis, igbo, snow white and gum. If u weren’t I wonder why u should say he’s technically bereft taking into consideration the milestone he has covered with the team. Is his assessment about victor right? Absolutely spot on. He’s still a young lad that has just begun finding his feet as a great striker with the potential of becoming a “world” striker in no distant time. That’s Exaclty what he meant. If u knew what a world striker meant you’d not be blabbing like a baby. Stop smoking

Funny thing is that other Europeans dont see UK as Europe. Perhaps, he meant that world class strikers are in UK

@Glory,Osimhen has been tormenting defenders right from under-age competition in Nigeria and abroad. Unlike some of our overated and overhyped players who are happy warming the bench or not making match day squad,Osimhen worked his ass-off to get to this level.
I’m sure he is not relenting and I pray for his success.
However, one thing that is not difficult to understand is that the best strikers in the world are in Europe. Any striker that is ranked one of the best in Europe is one of the best in the world.
    Again, Mr. Roar goofed!!

Mr technically sound. Tell me if victor can classified in the same category as benzema, c ronaldo, Salah, aguero, harry Kane, suarez, mbappe, neymar etc. These are renowned world strikers that have proven themselves across different leagues including making meaningful impacts at world cup mundials. He has not gotten to this level mr technically sound but we hope and pray he’d get there soon by God’s grace. You’re being driven blind by sentiments, that’s being a typical Nigerian.

Classic example of areas of improvements for Osihmen just happened in the 68minute of the ongoing Udinese Vs Napoli, he was set through on goal by Insigne and he beat the defender with his speed but eventually pulled his shot wide without even testing the keeper

Osimihen is destined to be a world class striker. He has the abilities and qualities of a world class player. He is swift, decisive, courageous, determined, intelligent, aggressive, selfless and hardworking. He exhibited all those qualities against Leicester in Europe league match and he is doing the same thing tonight against udinese.

  • OMG! I can’t believe Rohr made this statement or was he quoted out of context.

“Osimhen is currently one of the best strikers in Europe but not yet in the world”

I am in severe pain! Please can someone tell our coach that if Osimhen is one of the best strikers in Europe then he is automatically one of the best in the world because the best football is played in Europe. Coach Rohr, should we be worried? Lol

  • Nawa for some people here! All in the name of hatred for Rohr? How are u sure that this comment is not twisted?
We should even be happy that he sees him as one of the best in Europe.
    Here are the current Ranking..
    *Lewandowski
    *Kane
    *Haaland
    *Lukaku
    *Ronaldo
    *Benzema
    *Immobile
    *Cavani
    *Andre Silva
    *Messi
    *Calvert -Lewin
    Others..
    *Suarez
    *Sallah
    *Mane
    *Mbappe
    *Neymar
    *Aubameyang
    …etc don’t forget evergreen Zlatan
All these names on paper before Osimhen. But we Nigerians believe he’ll surely becomes one of them soon.
    By God’s grace.

I think Rohrs struggles with English which apparently is neither his first nor second language so sometimes may struggle to put his words across so we should learn to cut him some slacks.
However, the whole point he was making was Osimhen has potentials to be one of the best in Europe which he can achieve by working on his grey areas.
Obviously this can only make him one of the best in the world.
Rightfully, the best in Europe should be the best in the world.

    • Larry 3 years ago

@Greenturf, thanks for the valid point. I decided to let this matter rest because it’s not everyone that has time to exchange comments with some ill mannered and unintelligent people who will follow Roar to Indonesia by time ANC has ended. Because, without a change in approach to matches, it will be hard for him to win the ANC.
A dullard is using the World cup as a yard stick to classify the best striker in the world,Haland is currently one of the best in the world and he has not been to the world cup.
Over to you Mr. Multiple dislikes. Liking or disliking a comment will not stop progressive minds for making valid points.

  • You had such a talent on your bench in AFCON and was still so sentimental towards Ighalo even after 30 mins against Algeria when it was clear he was not coping. mind you Osimhen at the time was about to Move to Lille where he instantly hit the ground running following stellar showing in Belgium..You should have thrown Speedy Osimhen on in that game against Algeria 2019 AFCON that’s what we needed to break that Defence when Ighalo was getting shut out due to his lack of pace. Till this day that is one of the worst piece of Managing I have ever witnessed.

I know some people on this forum will try rubbish what I have said. To all those who will try take the seriousness out of this statment of mine.. have a look at his form 1 month later after AFCON 2019. Osimhen Lille Debut v Nantes

  • P.s. Click the Video it will still work

I remember taking this whole forum on at some point defending my statement that had Osimhen been brought on at Half time in that game.. We would have had a chance at Final against Senegal I have no doubt about it. This is why it imperative that coach does not use sentiment when coaching and should use only logic because decisions like that can literally decide whether you win the CUP or not..

anyone still saying Rohr shouldn’t make Lookman a priority??????

Please, leave Rhor alone. You are not better than him and can NOT be. He is our good coach till tomorrow. You can sumersord if you like.
