Win Or Bust For Rohr As Super Eagles Seek Redemption In Freetown

Win Or Bust For Rohr As Super Eagles Seek Redemption In Freetown

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr will hope to hold on to his job by leading his side to victory on Wednesday (today) against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone, reports Completesports.com.

The three-time African champions blew a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 against same opponent last Friday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

Pressure is mounting on Rohr following his team’s lacklustre second half display and defeat in this game could see him lose his job.

The German penned a new two-year contract with the Nigeria Football Federation in March.

Rohr’s task will be made harder following the absence of forward Victor Osimhen due to injury.

Osimhen, who scored Nigeria’s second goal in the first leg, dislocated his shoulder in the second half and has returned to his club Napoli for treatment.

Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to lead the Super Eagles attack in his abscence.

Leon Balogun and Samuel Chukwueze, who picked up minor injuries last Friday are in contention to start the game.

The Super Eagles top Group L with seven points from three games. Benin Republic are second with six points, with Sierra Leone third on two points. Lesotho occupy last position with a single point.
