Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal and Celtic, reports claim. Woodman has been a prominent member for England’s youth teams over the years, representing his country from Under-16 to Under-21 level, but he is yet to break into Newcastle’s senior ranks in the Premier League.

Slovakian shot-stopper Martin Dubravka is number one for the Magpies while Republic of Ireland international Rob Elliot and Englishman Karl Darlow continue to battle for the back-up position. Newcastle chiefs rate Woodman highly but the lack of first-team opportunities could force the 22-year-old, whose contract expires in the summer of 2020, out of St James’ Park.
It is being claimed Unai Emery’s Arsenal and Neil Lennon’s Celtic are eager to wrap up a deal and could offer somewhere in the region of £2-3million in the next transfer window. However, with Dubravka attracting interest from across Europe, Newcastle may decide to hold onto Woodman and finally promote him to the senior set-up.
