Senegal star Pape Gueye has gone on strike from the international team sparking a row with head coach Pape Thiaw, Mirror reports.
The Villarreal midfielder says he will be taking a break from the squad while the technical team is in place in the wake of their 3-2 World Cup exit to Belgium.
Gueye, 27, took to social media to drop the bombshell news after the African nation was rocked following their World Cup exit.
Senegal conceded two goals in two-and-a-half minutes during their round of 32 elimination against Belgium as they surrendered their place in the last-16, losing 3-2 in extra-time.
Habiib Diarra and Ismaila Sarr put Senegal into a comfortable lead as they looked set to book their place in Tuesday’s Round of 16 showdown with USA.
However, goals from Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans spared the blushes of Rudi Garcia’s side with the Aston Villa star winning and scoring a 125th-minute penalty.

In a post to his Instagram story, the 27-year-old said: “l’Il be back to give you a few words regarding elimination… but l announce today that as long as it’s this technical staff l’II take a break from the selection.”
Gueye was brought off shortly after the hour mark, while Senegal had a two-goal lead, with Thiaw bringing on Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara.
In the final 10 minutes, the game sparked into life with Romelu Lukaku steering home from a tight angle to reduce the deficit. Before Senegal could fully adjust to seeing their advantage halved, they found themselves level when Leandro Trossard’s cross was nodded home by Tielemans.
Then a penalty deep into the second-half of extra-time, awarded after the intervention of the video assistant referee, allowed for Tielemans to complete the turnaround for Garcia’s side.

Football is 90 minutes.So every minute counts!It doesn’t matter if you’re leading by more than a goal,there’s still a chance of your opponent scoring a couple of goals,and that could happen late in the 80th minute or in additional time.
Apparently,the leading team tends to be cautious to protect their lead,giving their much hungrier and desperate opponent the opportunity to come at them.These final moments have seen many teams which are ahead surrender their lead.And this situation can be heartbreaking and harrowing for fans to take…
Senegal and DR Congo put up a fight..They weren’t dominated but still lost in a very disappointing and dramatic fashion.
That is one of the most frustrating ways to lose a game or match.It often leaves you feeling hard done by because your performance didn’t justify the result.Holding for most part of the game,only to be undone by a few unforced errors,in those final moments,defensive lapses or fatigue can easily cost you the result entirey!
But you guys blew it up, you don’t surrender two goals lead on bigger stage like that and not get punished.
This is world cup and not club side. Belgium deserve the victory, having to come from two goals down in world cup is not a small feet.
Next time you guys should learn how to defend result.

If you watch that match..you would notice that this guy was playing alright and was showing the desire needed to keep up their advantage. I was shocked when I saw him been removed. Even his body language when the sub was been done showed he still had that fire to fight out this match and he was clearly unhappy to leave the pitch. The guy that replaced him got a yellow card as his first contribution. . My belief is that that coach made that sub too early. He would have waited until around 80th minute because him team was clearly on top with no sign of tiredness. The sub altered the dynamics of the match to Senegal disadvantage.. this loss is a painful one to take. …and I don’t blame the young man at all.
The guy behaviour come accross to be very arrogant disrespectful and lack of team spirit..
If coach replace you , just abide and let the football fans cook the coach for a wrong substitute
@Yaishman, you don’t get it, senegal as a country by now is no more a new bee to world games. This should be their fourth world cup if my memory serves me right.
There is nothing like they tried in knockout stages. The technical team to me is not the problem but what players chose to do on the pitch. Is not same technical crew that carried the team to afcon final?
You need to tell that player to come to Nigeria and wiked wonders of our fa as far as putting technical team together is concern.
