Norway defender Kristoffer Ajer has disclosed that the squad will approach their FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final clash against England with a Brentford mentality, a mix of humility, collective spirit, and taking each match one step at a time.
Despite being considered the underdogs against the tournament favorites, the Norwegian camp is riding high on confidence after securing an impressive 2-1 victory over Brazil in the round of 16.

Ajer stated that while Norway boasts the world-class attacking talent of Erling Haaland, their success is heavily reliant on a collective team effort.
“The World Cup so far has been more than I could ever dream of,” he told Brentford’s club website.
“The whole country has been super excited for it, and I’ve been preparing for several months. The way we’ve played in every game has been fantastic.
“The Brazil win… it’s not possible to describe the feeling I and the team had after it. They’re a fantastic country with so many top players, so being able to control the game in many aspects was surreal.
“Everyone’s really buzzing for the England game, but it’s a very similar mentality to Brentford: we’re humble but confident.

“We know we’re playing one of the big favourites to win the tournament and we need to perform once again to have a chance to advance.”
The winner of this Miami showdown will advance to the semi-finals to face either defending champions Argentina or Switzerland.
