Wright Admits PSG Are ‘Looking Hard’ At Arsenal Star

Arsenal legend Ian Wright says Paris Saint-Germain are showing serious interest in Gunners midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

The France Under-21 star has come under-fire from some sections of the Emirates faithful in recent weeks after a dip in form.

The 19-year-old’s performance in the north London derby on Saturday mirrored his campaign as he made a lively start but faded before being replaced by Lucas Torreira at half-time.

Wright launched a strong defence of the former Lorient player on his YouTube channel this week, praising his rapid rise under Unai Emery. “Guendouzi, for a 19-year-old, to come into the team and play continuously up to this point [is astounding],” said the former England international. “You know, he makes some mistakes and I’m seeing some s**t, people writing he gives the ball away. “He’s 19. He’s come from the second division in France into the Premier League.

“PSG are now looking at him hard. So if that’s the case, why [are] our fans digging him out for these misplaced balls?” Speaking in December, Guendouzi admitted PSG were interested in signing him before he chose to move to London last summer.

“It is true that PSG were very interested, like other teams, there were a lot of discussions, but for me the best decision I could make was to join Arsenal,” he told Canal Football Club. “Once they positioned themselves, I didn’t hesitate, I orientated myself in that direction.”
