Former Chelsea star Florent Malouda has described Enzo Maresca’s appointment at Manchester City as an impossible job, while also acknowledging it is a massive opportunity.
Recall that on Monday, Maresca officially signed a three-year contract with Manchester City to lead a new era after Pep Guardiola’s departure.

In a chat with Boylesports, Malouda stated that succeeding someone with Guardiola’s winning legacy and structural impact makes the position overwhelmingly difficult for any manager.
“Enzo Maresca is walking into an impossible job (at Man City), but at the same time it’s a great opportunity. You have a club with a recent winning history, which is great. They need to update a lot of things, so although it’s not a blank page, you can come up with something different.
“This is almost what’s expected. You can see that some players are leaving and the club will support him with his ideas. He can put his insight into it, but he will be assessed on his ability to manage the club, not only the first team.

“I won’t compare him to Pep, but maybe the next Mikel Arteta, who can allow Man City to stay at the top for the next decade.”
Meanwhile, the Blues have received £17M from Man City after a settlement was reached between the two clubs, a move that will only add pressure on the Italian, who will have the weight of the world on his shoulders.
