Zaha Confirms Racist Abuse

Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha says he is having to put up with racist abuse on social media.

The star winger is one of a number of players in the country that allegedly have been targeted recently.

The Ivory Coast international, who won a penalty kick, which was converted by Luka Milivojevic in Palace’s 1-0 win at Newcastle on Saturday, says he was subjected to racist abuse by a Magpies fan after the game.

It is yet another high-profile incident after Danny Rose and Raheem Sterling were abused while playing for England in Montenegro last month.

Troy Deeney has also had the same treatment and disabled the comments section on his Instagram page to stop any more.

Zaha says it must be stamped out and says attention has to be drawn to those who post the abuse. “To be honest, that is one of a million messages I get,” he said. “I felt like it’s best to draw attention to it now so the people will get drawn out themselves. “I feel it is not okay for you to go on social media and feel like you can say whatever you like.

That is why I had to say something.”
