Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has hailed the impact outgoing keeper Julian Speroni has had on his career as he prepares to leave. The veteran shot-stopper is set to depart the club at the end of the season as his contract draws to a close and he was handed the ‘Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Contribution’ for his incredible service to the Eagles over the last 15 years at last week’s end of season awards dinner.

Zaha thanked Julian Speroni for the help he has given him over his career and says he has been a mentor to him during his time at Selhurst Park. “Before I was even in the first team he was unbelievable,” he said. “And then managing to meet him you see how much of a gentleman and a nice guy he is.
I’m happy to have been at Palace at the same time as he is. “He’s been a mentor for me. Obviously, we play in different positions but whatever I was going through he would be someone I could speak to about anything.”
