Zimbabwe Coach, Chidzambga: We’ve Come To Learn From Super Eagles

Warriors of Zimbabwe head coach, Sunday Chidzambga, says his charges have come to learn from the Super Eagles in Saturday’s international friendly at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Completesports.com reports.

Chidzambga spoke on the sidelines during his team’s training Friday evening at the stadium.

“Super Eagles are a strong team, not only in Africa but the world,” Chidzambga said.

“And it is always important to play such team going into a big tournament like the Nations Cup.

“They have won the Nations Cup many (three) times and it is important we use this game to learn from them.”

Asked what specifics his team will learn from the three-time African champions, Chidzambga retorted: “everything about football”.

He admited his side are going into their fifth AFCON finals as underdogs but refused to set a particular target at the foremost African Football showpiece.

“I don’t believe in setting targets. What if you target a quarter-final and you (eventually) go ahead to win the cup?,” Chidzambga asked rhetorically.

The Zimbabwean Warriors scored in all but one game during the qualifiers and the coach attributed this to the fact that they parade fast forwards.

“That’s one of our strongest weapons,” he boasted..

Zimbabwe are in Group A of the 2019 AFCON alongside hosts, Egypt, Uganda and DR Congo.

They will tackle Pharaohs of Egypt in the opening game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on June 21.

Mr. Chidzambga, you wily fellow. We are not deceived! This Zimbabwe team is the strongest they have ever had. Led by their main goal getter, Knowledge Musona, these guys fear nobody, play really good football, and can wreck havoc on a good day. They will definitely be a good challenge for our boys. It is just a friendly, so the objective is not to win. Let them have a good run out, and most important, stay injury free. The Afcon is where the real business is.
