German defender Christoph Zimmermann is reportedly close to being handed a new contract at Norwich City. Zimmermann joined the Canaries on a two-year deal in June 2017 following the expiration of his contract at Borussia Dortmund and he was a key part of the side that won the Championship title last season, making 40 appearances and scoring two goals.
The 26-year-old last extended his deal at Carrow Road in December 2017, taking his stay until the summer of 2021, but is now expected to be handed an improved contract due to his impressive performances.
Having returned to the Premier League, head coach Daniel Farke has been tieing down his key first-team stars to longer stays, with Emi Buendia and Teemu Pukki the latest players to earn new deals. It is claimed Dusseldorf-born ace Zimmermann, who is preparing for his first taste of Premier League football this season, will put pen-to-paper on a contract until 2023.
