Zola: Osimhen Is Lukaku’s Heir

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola says Napoli’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is Romelu Lukaku’s heir.

Zola, who also featured for Napoli during his playing days (1989 – 1993), made this known in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

After a not too impressive start to the season following his sending off against Venezia, Osimhen has so far found the back of the net three times in his last two games for Napoli.

He bagged a brace as the Serie A outfit fought from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Leicester, in the Europa League last Thursday.

On Monday, he opened his side scoring as they thrashed Udinese 4-0 to make it four straight wins in the league.

In his first season for the Partenopei, the 22-year-old scored ten goals in 30 appearances.

And commenting on Osimhen and Napoli’s performance, the 55-year-old former Italian international said:“Napoli are really strong in every department.

“They have Osimhen, Insigne and Politano up front, they have quality in midfield, a solid defence with Kalidou Koulibaly and two reliable goalkeepers. I can’t see weak points in their team.

“I didn’t know Osimhen when he arrived last year, but I’ve studied him a little and I’ve discovered a talented player.

“His movements are so good and his athletic strength can be devastating. He is Lukaku’s heir, he is still young and with room for improvement.”

This is an understatement Zola. Why belittle one of the hottest striker in europe who got all it takes to surpass lukaku’s record in italy? I expected you to say heir to Didier Drogba(one of the best striker to have ever come out of Africa)

Well, let’s forgive Zola. He poured encomiums on Osimhen and acknowledged that Victor has growth potentials. It was what that Courtutura of a guy said, the grand defender of the bench . . . hahahahaha!!! that set my head spinning. Imagine the number one bench warmer was praying for Osimhen to fail! No wonder, he’s a failure himself.

Nigerians are more like the English media in hype.
Osimhen is good ,but the hype is not justified yet.he has not hit those dizzy heights known with world class strikers.

Let’s take it easy on the young man.
There is still room for improvement.

These was how some of you will go off rail hailing past Nigerian footballers only for some of them to fall on the way side like pack of cards.

This is the reason why I like the Italian media,no too much hype .
Everything is moderate unlike English media and most Nigerian commenters would do.

Osimhen is improving, he can do better and has a great future if he keeps working hard and keeps improving himself.
