2019 Sagamu Cup Golf Tourney: Epe Takes Early Lead After Day- One

Nigeria’s Francis Epe took a commanding lead on the first day of the Sagamu Cup Golf Tournament holding at the Elephant Golf Course, Sagamu, Completesports.com reports.

After a tie for second spot in the first round of the three-day tournament, Epe shot another consecutive 70 in the second round..

He, thus, ended his second round with an overall score of @-two-under-par for the tournament, to climb to the top of the leaderboard, three shots ahead of Mike Ubi and Ghana’s Vincent Torgah who are currently tied on the second spot @-one-over-par going into the ‘moving day’ of the Sagamu Cup.

Completesports.com reports that Epe finished with four Birdies in the second round, eleven Pars and three Bogeys en-route to his second win this season in the African Tour’s sixth event of the season that awards four thousand order of merit points to the winner.

Contrastingly, Enoch Owusu and Christopher Francis were far from convincing compared to their first round performances when both players fired two-under 69 respectively to hold a share of the lead.

The Sagamu Cup Golf Tournament will serve as qualifying round for Nigerian Golf Federation (NGF), amateur players that will represent Nigeria in Mauritius in the African Golf Championship with the NGF footing all the golfers bills for the trip.

The Mauritius championship will hold in October this year. The amateur players include Uche Eze for the seven-over-par, Owolabi for the eight-over-par and Oyewoga for the twelve-over.
