Former Nigerian stars, Duke Udi and Tarila Okorowanta’ have called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to exclude Ahmed Musa from the list of players that will be invited for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.
The duo said that invitation of players must be based on current form and that Musa has been clubless since leaving Saudi club, Al Nassr in October 2020.
The Nigerian international was on the verge of joining West Brom during the 2021 Winter transfer window, only for the deal to collapse at the end
However, speaking during an interview on Brila.net, Udi stated that only the best players must be invited by Rohr.
‘We are inviting players now on current form,’ Duke Udi said.
On the other hand, Okorowanta urged the German tactician not to invite Musa for the 2021 AFCON because he’s clubless.
‘Ahmed Musa is without a club at the moment, so we need to look at other players,’ Okorowanta echoed his former teammate’s position.

It’s just logical to understand that someone who hasn’t played active football for close to 6 months does not deserve to be invite. If it was just any other player will the issue even be debatable? No and the longer he is inactive the more difficult it will be to get a decent club.

There’s no problem if Musa do not play in both matches but the team needed a leader.

Lol….what goes on in a team is surely more than what you see on the pitch. Musa is currently the most experienced and most capped player in that team. This simply means that, he knows the culture, tradition and whereabouts of the team more than anyone else in that team. Especially, in this situation where there are possibilities of having couple of newbies in the team, they need him. The guy doesn’t have to play, but they need him as a pillar of support and as a leader in the team. Infact, i will be so shocked if he’s not invited. Anyways, Rohr knows more than all of us, so lets wait for that list.

No be matter of haters now…..this national team na our own and I’m quite sure everyone wants the best for this team. If Musa is not fit and hasn’t played active football in months what sense does it make to invite him. Of course he can come to their camp to motivate them and stuff but to be invited as one of the key players just doesn’t make sense. If he is invited what precedence are u setting.
