2021 FIFA Arab Cup: Egypt Lose To Tunisia In Semi-final

2021 FIFA Arab Cup: Egypt Lose To Tunisia In Semi-final

A last-gasp own goal from Amr El-Sulaya broke Egypt’s hearts as they fell 1-0 to Tunisia in the first semi-final of the FIFA Arab Cup on Wednesday.

The Ahly midfielder miscued an attempted clearance and powerfully headed the ball past his own goalkeeper following a corner deep in stoppage time.

It was hardly a fitting end to a drab affair in which both sides were overly-cautious, creating few openings at Qatar’s Stadium 974.

It took Egypt until the 75th minute to create their first goal-scoring chance, with substitute Mostafa Fathi blasting a volley high over with the goal at his mercy after a defensive mistake allowed Hamdi to play him in.

Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz once again experimented with his starting line-up, fielding several players in unfamiliar positions.

The Portuguese said more than once he was looking to try different strategies in the Arab Cup but his team selection will still draw criticism.

Egypt will meet the losers of Wednesday’s other semi-final clash between Algeria and hosts Qatar in the third-place playoff on Saturday.

The Pharoahs are using the Arab Cup as part of preparations ahead of the 2021 AFCON.

They are in Group D with Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan.

Some clowns will tell you he’s not experienced, he’s not yet ready and all sort of fifty talks … Look at Germany having the likes of Musiala, Adeyemi in their team… I’ll tell you these clowns prefer Musa to Dennis or this Amoo, people matter just tire me …

What’s hard for Rohr(thank God he’s gone and we appreciate him) in calling this boy up and groom him, what’s hard in that??? He’s got this damn talent …it’s well

@Golden child thanks for sharing the video clip of awesome skillful of a dynamic complete footballer Akinwunmi Amoo ( that is D Bull Amokachi reincarnated, never seen another Amokachi after he retired due to injury, and some clown would be telling us crap here that a mechanic Alias Coach is paying scouts from his pocket; yet an awesome footballer like this Amoo is outrageously kept at bay of SE so as not to expose their average players . Any time I watched the guy play , I never stopped to see Amokachi in this guy , and I would be wondering what kind of job our mechanic called Coach Rohr doing in his 6 years endless directionless journey.

Maximum kudos to the second longest SE ever after Rohr ( Westerhof for given us a dynamic Amockachi a local player for that matter at 18 years old

@Patrot ; thank you , some Rohr’s clowns would in deed ask , who is he coming to replace in SE. let them come out and prove to us that there is any of Rohr’s choices of players that can match this guy Skilled for skilled, power-play for power play , pace 4 pace , bullet shots 4 bullets shots ; Can any human being compare this guy with the likes of Musa
, retired Igahalo that has no business in SE , let us even assume, on sentiment, Musa is in the team because of being captain .

Corrupt players call ups , bad selection ; Rohr would rather prefer to call an inactive goalkeeper John Noble at the expense of better goalkeeper that has displaced him in his Eyimba club , all in al to market their players and bribery

    … Good Riddance to bad Rubbish ;

Let’s stop talking about Rohr. That already bygone there’s nothing wrong for Cerezo to call him up for the AFCON. We must call up all deserving SuperEagles players both home and abroad then select the best 23 or 28 for the AFCON. Typically we have the players, but they must be motivated. Cerezo is very tactically capable of bringing home the trophy. He won bronze before so he’s got the experience to win it. After all said and done SuperEagles belong to Nigerians. #VAMOS ARRIBBA SUPEREAGLES!!!

  • Inactive goalkeepers like John Noble have no business in a serious Super Eagles team when Nigeria has Adebayo Adeleye doing very well in Israel. Talent for talent, Adebayo Adeleye is much better than Akpeyi and I would advise that he should be brought in for AFCON camping to compete with Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho. Ally Agu should please wake up as a goalkeeper trainer and shun tribalistic and nepolistic sentiments in his choice of Super Eagles goaltenders. Adebayo Adeleye might not be that tall (just 5ft 9 inches), but he makes up for that with very good reflexes, good ball anticipation techniques, a good organization of his defence and all-round alertness. also, Akinkumi Amoo is ripe enough to bring much-needed energy to the Super Eagles midfield and is surely becoming a great player at his age with a bright future and should be given a chance to fight for an AFCON shirt in the Eagles midfield with Kelechi Nwakali and Ovie Ejaria. Thanks

THIS IS THE GREAT ROMARIO IN THE MAKING . IN MY YEARS OF WATCHING NIGERIA PLAYERS I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PLAYER SO SKILLFUL ,RUGGED, DIRECT ,EXCEPTIONAL AND FORWARD MOVING DYNAMIC AS AMOO. WITH THIS PLAYER IN OUR DISPOSAL I STILL DO NOT KNOW WHY SOME NFF AND THE COACH THINK HE SHOULD NOT BE INVITED TO THE NATIONAL TEAM. WE ARE THE PROBLEM OF OURSELVES IN THIS COUNTRY IF NFF CAN DO THE NEEDFUL AND USE THE EAGLES TO ATTRACT FOREIGN INVESTORS AND ALSO MARKET OUR PLAYERS FOR BETTER CLUB TO COME FOR THEM.
I TELL YOU THIS PLAYER CAN CONVENIENTLY PLAY FOR BARCA OR REAL MADRID IF HE IS GIVING THE NECESSARY EXPOSURE BY SUPER EAGLES. THEY KNOW IF HE IS INVITED HE WILL EASLY DISLODGED THOSE OUTDATED PLAYERS.
I EVEN READ THE NEWS THAT ROHR PLEADED TO SOME PLAYERS NOT TO BOYCOTT THE NATIONS CUP, I SAID ROHR AND THOSE PLAYERS HE PLEADED TO ARE ALL FOOLISH AND BASTAD .
WHO ARE THOSE USELESS PLAYERS DRGGING OUR COUNTRY IN THE MUD,I BELIEVE THE COMING OF EGUAVON WILL BRING A LOT OF POSITIVE CHANGES NOT BECAUSE THE COACH IS SOUND BUT BECAUSE SELECTION WILL BE ON MERIT AND THERE WILL BE HEALTHY COMPETITION IN THE TEAM . LET PLAYERS WHO ARE WORTHY BE SELECTED AND NIGERIA WILL BE DIFFICULT TO BEAT BY ANY TEAM IRRESPECTIVE OF WHO IS COACHING THEM.

Watched both Arab semi finals today, and i tell you the super eagles better be ready. Because this local northern players are good enough to represent there country at the Afcon. There professional players will just be surplus. We have a lot of work to do.
