2021 World T/Tennis Championships: Aruna Clinch Historic Quarter-final Spot

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Quadri Aruna continued his impressive run at the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships after securing an historic quarter-final berth.

Aruna defeated Swedish player Kristian Karlson in a thrilling four sets to three victory in the round of 16 clash.

The Nigerian star emerged winner 11-9, 5-11, 13-11, 5-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6, to become the first African man to qualify for the last eight at the World Table Tennis Championships. 

He is also the first man from Africa to advance into the last 16 stage.

This year’s World Table Tennis Championships is staged in Houston, United States of America, and will run from 23 to 29 November.
