2022 CAF Awards: Simon, Amoo Miss Out As Final Shortlists Unveiled

Super Eagles duo Moses Simon and Akinkunmi Amoo missed out in the final shortlists of their respective categories in the 2022 CAF Player of the Year awards, Completesports.com reports.

The final shortlists in the six categories for this year’s award was published on CAF website on Monday.

While Simon did not make the final 10-man nominees for the men’s Player of the Year award, Amoo missed out of the final five-man shortlist for the Young Player of the Year award for men.

For the men’s Player of the Year category, CAF released a star-studded final list of nominees with some of the elite performers in the last few months making the cut.

The list includes reigning CAF African Player of the Year Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez, Mohamed Salah, Edourd Mendy, Naby Keita, Vincent Aboubakar amongst others.

Simon was included in the initial 30-man shortlist following his impressive performance for both club and country.

At club level, Simon helped Nantes clinch the French Cup and did very well at the 2021 AFCON despite the Eagles crashing out in the round of 16.

One of the highly contested categories is that of the CAF Coach of the Year, where Aliou Cisse, Pitso Mosimane, Carlos Queiroz, Tom Saintfiet and Walid Regragui made it.

The winners of each category will be decided by a voting panel made up of CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, Head Coaches & Captains of Member Associations and clubs involved at the group stage of the Interclub competitions for the 2021/22 season.

“…We have the best players in Africa…”, “…Our players are world class…”, “…any coach can win AFCON with these players in 2 weeks…”

HIS CLUB refused to released HIM because of how IMPORTANT HE is..

And WE all saw how HE showed HIS PATRIOTISM by refusing to TRAIN with THEM and then later on HE cancelled HIS CONTRACT with THEM..

When Rohr wanted to teach them humility by telling them the truth they crucified him. He was molding those boys to becoming African Champions. Had it been we reach the semis in Afcon and qualified for world cup we would have had a player even in a 5 man list.

They shouted,”OUR PLAYERS ARE THE BEST IN EUROPE, AMERICA, ASIA, AFRICA, AND IN MARS

They said any coach can win trophy with the team within 2 weeks to one month. And ️️️Ⓜ️ we were disgraced out of nations cup and never qualify for the beautiful theatres of Qatar. Time indeed is the greatest judge. Look at how time flies!!!!

    Dr.Drey is been a while o

Omo9ja is our nemesis. History will be very unkind to Omo9ja and his cohorts when historians look at how and what really happened to Nigeria football during the 2021 AFCON and why Nigeria did not take part in 2022 World Cup. Today, for all intent and purposes, Omo9ja would deflect to political areas of ‘ho Buhari didn’t do this or that, but l want to ask Omo9ja, which State voted for Buhari and thereby made him the President? ‘ Certainly, not my State or people. Omo9ja, please, you got what your State and people voted for and stop complaining when Buhari is apparently governing to please his Fulani tribe. You cannot plant cocoyam and expect to reap cassava. Omo9ja, follow who know ROAD. God gave us Dr Drey in this place, be his student. Nigeria football shall be stabilized for the enjoyment of all if you do. Take a lesson from what the learnt Dr Drey just said above. Don’t ever sack a management staff 2 weeks to a major tournament and expect to win such Tournament. A lessen for the future.

    BEAUTIFUL THEATRES of QATAR

    LMFAO!!!

@MARVELOUS YOU can SAY that again!

That is what I have been trying to SINK in the SKULLS of these BASTARDS that QATAR is the BIGGEST DEAL nothing compares to it..

Not even if the FALCONS WIN the WAFCON TITLE or WOMEN’S WORLD CUP..

  • Hmmmm….

This is the question i always ask during Rohr’s reign…..

IS IT ONLY US THAT ARE SEEING THESE OUR STARS?.

Our beer parlour coaching crew (i.e those self acclaimed ex cricketers, oh sorry I meant to say ex internationals) lead by their local champion (you know his name) use to say we’ve avalanche of stars in the super eagles that can win any tournament…..
But we the real super eagles fan that always call a spade a spade irrespective of who’s affected will always argue that we don’t.

Let me still repeat the question again…..

Is it only we Nigerians that are seeing these stars?

Does the likes of CHESEA, MAN CITY, BARCA, MADRID, PSG, MAN UTD, MILAN CLUBS, LIVERPOOL, JUVENTUS, BAYERN OR EVEN THE DYING ARSENAL DOESN’T HAVE EYES TO SEE THESE OUR BEER PARLOUR COACHING CREW LEAD BY THEIR LOCAL CHAMPION’S WORLD CLASS PLAYERS?

    CAF MUST BE BLIND ALSO….

When we the sincerely, faithful and truthful real super eagles fan tell them the truth and nothing but the truth they start calling us names.

Oya you ppl should start calling CAF names.

Our boys are just hyped…. They’re not what we think yet.

Apart from DENNIS, there’s no other Nigerian player that can influence any game in their club (in the top 5 league) just like what MANE, SALAH, MAHREZ, does for their respective teams.
They’re just average players being hyped by their marketers.

Let’s stop hyping these boys & allow them to play soccer…..

If you love someone you definitely tell him the truth….

Let’s tell these boys the truth they won’t hear, now see the result.

    CAF can’t even recognize them.

Let’s wait and see CAF starting XI whether luck will favour any of our hyped materials to be included.

      LMFAO!!

My BROTHER @UBFE CAF don show Dem what GENERAL ROAH and some of us the REAL HONEST FANS have been telling them that WE don’t have WORLD CLASS PLAYERS in the TEAM yet( they are all AVERAGE)

I mean THEY should have REALIZED that with the way ALMIGHTY BARCA and some other GREAT CLUBS will be OVERLOOKING our so called “WORLD CLASS PLAYERS” to go and SIGN “AVERAGE PLAYERS”(IRONY) from IVORY COAST, GABON etc…

      LMFAO!!!

Don’t mind them, they think ‘our own’ will win not only the AFCON but, the World Cup with the Awoniyi, Nwakili, Desser and others playing in second Division in EUROPE. A team that was knocked out in round 16 is eligible to represent Africa. A team that was knocked out by low-level Ghana team is all super-power and not super chicken. please, give a brake.
