2022 U-17 WWC: Flamingos Lose To Germany In Group Opener

Nigeria’s Flamingos lost 2-1 to Germany in their first game in Group B, at this year’s FIFA U-17 women’s World Cup in India on Tuesday, Completesports.com reports.

The Flamingos went into the break ahead thanks to Miracle Usani’s 30th minute goal.

In the 50th minute Germany equalized through Svea Stold before Mara Alber got the second goal for the Europeans in the 61st minute.

The Flamingos will hope to recover from the defeat to Germany when they face New Zealand in their second group game on Friday 14 October.

And in Group B’s other game, Chile defeated New Zealand 3-1.

And in Group A hosts India were hammered 8-0 by the United States of America while Africa’s other representative Morocco lost 1-0 to Brazil.

This is the second time that India hosts a FIFA tournament after the men’s 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

  • It was ugly out there.

That second goal was avoidable, that defender who could not stop that pass was the real culprit!

  • Badge 2 years ago

These girls are not under 17. They are very old, yet beaten by real 15 year Olds. Very shameful Africa still does this age cheating thing

    • Chudynak 2 years ago

You cannot say with certainty that our girls are overage just by facial looks, after all, I am sure MRI was deployed!

    • Badge u be fool if u don’t know u talking about overage go bring ur sis make we tell u her age now . This are girls looking for a way to play and help their family young girls for that matter and look at the poverty in Nigeria y won’t they look old.

    • Olujjjj 2 years ago

Germany 15 .. far far far. Foul.

    • Very stupid and senseless comments grow up

  • I thought they said these lasses are very good and fear no one? I watched the match, infact, our girl were rubbish. Just play your remaining matches and come back home. And please stop boasting like ghana that win tournaments before the kick off.

  • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

Mentality problem is behind all this national team mishap. See how the coach was celebrating the first goal as if he had won a World Cup, then I wonder what he told the girls on getting to the dressing room at half time that affected their mentality. @Badge go back to your Ghanaian page and leave this forum, enough of all these disrespectful litigation from Ghanaians. CS do your job and weed this guys off our forum. The eye service and loose talk is becoming something else!

    • Ignatius Abo 2 years ago

Well said Brotherman Samuels. All these Ghanaians must leave here. Selfmade shit is no more. The curse placed on him by Field Marshal seems to now be working.

    • Badge 2 years ago

Age cheating is an African problem. I watched the match and the girls are very old. I am an African, and I know how African teenage girls look like, especially 15,16 year Olds. The Europeans have good physique, but the Asians with their smaller physique still present real teenagers and win these tournaments. Africans will cheat, send overage players and still get beaten by these kids. It is an African problem. We believe we can only win when we cheat the rest of the world

      • greenturf 2 years ago

I disagree with you put hate aside the Nigerian girls are younger than the Germans,we looked our age.Our girls are genuine under 17.

      • Respect is reciprocal 2 years ago

Seems you have a poverty background or properly you didn’t have opportunity to go to a sound private schools otherwise you will see girls that are truly 13 looking like undergraduate in Nigeria secondary schools. So concluding that our girls are old because of their appearance is senseless and deformation of character on your part.

  • What did you guys expect before, a country in disarray.

Another failure loading is that of under 23 Olympic team whom report says has been infested with overage players.

How will they able to quickly get the right set of players in less than two weeks and get them ready to play the game is what I don’t know.

  • This is the worst under 17 girls ever assembled, I also wonder what kind of coaching they received far less than average for me.

  • Bobo Colorado Springs 2 years ago

I think it was the coach’s fault, why early substitutions at half time ?, you don’t change players early especially when they are winning. Those substitutions were unnecessary and as soon he did that, germany scored and started playing.

  • Olujjjj 2 years ago

Germany 15 .. far far far. Foul.

  • The Germans came with a well tutored girls to play with our girls picked from the streets and we expect them to survive under pressure? Nigeria for some reasons decided to abandon school/grassroot development of football and other sports and yet we want to win world cup….i laugh in swahili. And all we do at this platform is curse each other out, call players names, blast coaches after coaches but leave the real culprits who are using the resources meant for football development to buy SUV’S and build houses they will never live in. The dept of youths development in the federal/state ministry of sports and ministry of education at both the federal and state levels are all responsible for the dismantling of the developmental systems we had in our schools from primary to Tertiary institutions. If these girls had been involved in football competitions right from primary school to high school they wouldn’t have played so poorly like they did tonight, they had determination, they had the physicality like always but lack the basic rudiments that ought to have carried them through the pressure. The coaches too need training, you cannot give what you don’t have. Our coaches don’t have the money to go abroad for regular training so the FA need to bring in experts from Europe/south America to teach our coaches . Lastly , our journalist in both print and electronic media are gradually becoming part of the problem for their failure to criticize sports administrators and even politicians for abandoning school sports.

    • Bobo Colorado Springs 2 years ago

Bro Frank, it was the early substitutions that changed and killed the game; there’s nothing so special about the German girls.

    • Chima E Samuels 2 years ago

The Coaches are talented but with poor education there’s always a limit to their end result. Check out their interview and notice how they speak you’ll understand where I’m coming from, even the players are not different as well. Education doesn’t play football but little education helps overall life decisions. Even the new NFF president I doubt his qualifications. How as a country we’re led by illiterates remains a mystery. This ugly trend doesn’t seem like ending soon and yet we want to be like US and UK. I wish the team better luck in their next match…..

Envies and jealous leads you to no success and progress. Let Nigerians continue deceiving themselves. How could Nigeria present a one-sided 1st eleven team and expect a successful outcome? Karma is still real!!!

    • Sunnyb 2 years ago

Normally I don’t reply fools like u, when ur brothers populated other National teams with Aba gra gra players what’s was the outcome. Dummy,Yoruba have the players to win the World Cup, checkout the biggest clubs in the world u see one two Yoruba players playing for them. Olowokere is a product of a corrupt system, I’m not surprised  they lost. Both male and female National teams will continue to lose,

      • okponku 2 years ago

They said a tree cannot make a forest. At least you accepted that your Coach is corrupt. No doubt there are good Yoruba players, that’s the reason everyone should form his own Nation/National Team, its hard time Nigerians should stop deceiving themselves. Croatia is far better now as a nation likewise Serbia, Montenegro, Albania etc.

I don’t understand your DIVISIVE posts here.

On this forum you find Nigerians from different Ethnic backgrounds aligning with others PURELY on the real ISSUES than on tribal sentiments!

Some of the biggest names on this forum are YORUBAS and IGBOS and you find them aligning more on principle rather than primordial sentiments.

Dr. Drey; one of the most cerebral forumites…(yes, that’s actually coming from me ome of his ardent critics. Lol) is a YORUBA guy; ditto one of the most PROLIFIC and suave writers anywhere; DEO. Other renowned and great pundits who are YORUBA here include POMPEI. But Dr. Drey is more at home with OAKFIELD who’s IGBO than DEO a fellow YORUBA!

You spewing that balderdash is the reason why we cannot at any time soon realize the NIGERIA of our dreams .. OBIDIENT or BATALION or ATIKULATED!

Change your mindset and mentality. You can’t disrespect the YORUBAS football wise. Today players of YORUBA descents present our only hope of having NIGERIA blood to be represented at QATAR 2022…SAKA, TOMORI, JAMAAL MUSIALA, KARIM ADEYEMI, ADEKUGBE, AKANJI…

Today we have YORUBA blooded players like ALABA..RM; SAKA.. ARSENAL; TOMORI…AC MILAN; MUSIALA …BM; AKANJI…MC etc playing for the biggest CLUBSIDES in the world

Enough of ethnic and tribal profiling please!

  • Ako Amadi 2 years ago

Mr.Olowokere, the U-17 (?) coach of Nigeria forgot his duty to assemble a national side. He has packed and padded the team with women from his village alone. In which case they should not be wearing the colours of Nigeria. Sad that tribalism will never leave Nigeria!

    • Respect is reciprocal 2 years ago

So because majority of the girls are yoruba this is tribalism when most nation teams are packed by igbos it’s not tribalism . The last u21 women were majorly igbos yet we git knocked in the second round . This has nothing o do with tribalism but lack of organization

      • Ako AMADI 2 years ago

The U-21 were not “majority Igbo” and Coach Danjuma is not from Igboland either. If you and your tribesmen feel that “it is our turn,” and you want to use football to achieve your desire, I wish you luck. But the loser will be Nigeria which belongs to ALL of us.

  • You see this Ghanaian man, Badge and especially that his other leaky mouth and insolent compatriot, Yaw always trying to talk down Nigerian teams on a Nigerian platform. At least, the self man boy only responds to mentions and occasionally shows sense and respect.

Some of our Nigerian brothers tell us to stop super-slaming them in the mud, but what do you make of this?

Why not wait till November to enjoy a little spotlight for a week or two, by which time all the hoopla and noise would have ended.

  • Respect is reciprocal 2 years ago

These girls are good at least in African standard and this is why after conquering Africa we struggle to impose our superiority over teams from other continent. Individually the girls can’t take players one on one, then poor passes and lack of confidence from our girls . I don’t blame them most of them are seeing white tall girls for the first time.
From the coaching perspective our girls are disorganized with or without the ball.
Men forget the Germans are tall and bullish

    • I don’t think our superiority is limited to Africa. The major problem here is planning. Planning planing planing!!!
After their major tournament in Africa you quickly disperse the girls, no more training together and cohesion among the players.

Fees weeks to world tournament, you rang the bell calling on the girls to come of their coven, play two friendly matches against lowly rated football clubs and expect to beat Germany whom must have camp their girls for nothing less down four months with those girls on monthly pay roll and other benefit.

How do you beat that? Infact if there is anything we have achieve in the past it largely as a result individual commitments, skill and sacrifices more than our planning because our planning is always zero.

Everything Africa has won in the world are underage tournaments and the reason is obvious

  • Ako Amadi 2 years ago

All sorts 9f fairy tales are now told to excuse away the poor performance of Nigeria’s U-17 XI. One of these stories – that they were seeing tall, white girls for the first time – is as bizarre as it gets! Since when have “tall, white girls” stopped footballers who have been camped for 3 years from putting passes together, instead of repeatedly sending aerial balls into nowhere? These girls are not Nigeria’s best.I doubt if the coach went round the country to watch and recruit players.
