2022 W/Cup Qualifiers: Rohr Lists Osimhen, Troost-Ekong, , Ndidi, 27 Others For Liberia, Cape Verde

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has called up a total of 30 players for next month’s opening rounds of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifying campaign, in which Nigeria will host Liberia in Lagos on Friday, 3rd September (Day 1) and tackle Cape Verde in Mindelo on Tuesday, 7th September (Day 2).

Franco-German Rohr has stuck largely with his dependables as the race to Qatar begins, with goalkeepers Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho, defenders William Ekong, Abdullahi Shehu, Chidozie Awaziem and Leon Balogun, midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo, and forwards Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon and Victor Osimhen on the roster.

The situation with UK-based players, who may not be heading to Cape Verde (which is on the red list of the British Government with regards to the global coronavirus pandemic) has enlarged the roster, and should the situation remain unchanged, the eight UK-based players on the list would head back to base after the clash with Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Friday.

There is a return for South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Kevin Akpoguma and Greece-based forward Henry Onyekuru. Former junior international Kingsley Michael is also called, as Innocent Bonke from Sweden joins the Nigerian camp for the first time.

The Super Eagles, who have featured in six of the past seven FIFA World Cup finals, host the Lone Star of Liberia at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Friday, 3rd September (kickoff is 5pm) and then travel to the island of Mindelo to tango with the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde on Day 2 of the series on Tuesday, 7th September.

    Nigeria my country !!!!

    • Precious 3 years ago

The list seems balanced to me
      We can’t invite everyone
Even if it is Mourinho or pep that chose the squad we won’t all be satisfied, let’s support our country,I know many people are planning for rhor to fail at d detriment of Nigeria
The standby list is good ejuke and onyekuru can also step up

  • Gattuso 3 years ago

    Long awaited, much anticipated

    We’re watching

  • Gattuso 3 years ago

@Precious, see my dear brother anything can happen. For me, I’m not expecting much from the Head Coach as well as the Team

The Team is being owed bonuses running to 2 years and NFF are not happy with Leon Balogun for raising it

Rhor is being owed at least 7 months salary and no one is talking about this among the so called ex internationals. All they know to do is criticise the coach because they’re salivating for the position. Whereas many of those things Rhor has been managing, they can’t

Do you even know that apart from being owed 7 months salary, people aren’t aware that Rhor has never had access to the money he’s been paid since the beginning of his second tenure?

The terms of the contract stated he would be paid in the Nigerian currency, apart from getting the pay cut. Even though he was contracted based on CBN exchange rates, the Bank have refused to change the money into Dollars for the poor coach since. Insisting he should go to utilize the black market which would automatically make him loose at least 40% of his earnings. 9ja for real!!!

With all these inconveniences and anomalies, what should be the expectations of those ill treated set of players and coaches when the NFF always know how to pay themselves, earn their own bonuses and make life comfortable for themselves

It would be until the coach is gone that many will credit him on his level of maturity in handling many delicate matters without allowing such do any damage to his primary duties. Worse still, let him handle a Team in the nearest future where he’s better serviced and motivated and let him face the Super Eagles. Chai

    Personally, I’m at akimbo

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Rohr should use his money in Nigerian Banks to acquire choice properties in choice places in Lagos and Abuja. I bet you in 1-2 years time he will sell those properties with profit and have his money delivered to him in US$ right there in France without 1 cent missing. He shouldnt mind the antics of these unintelligent detractors.

      • JimmyBall 3 years ago

Your worship of a whiteman is next to religious fanaticism… insulting your own kind just for a whiteman… Calling your own kind unintelligent… Your ways never disappoint… You are really working hard albeit unnoticed by the moongod just to inherit underwears from him at expiration of his contract… Na wa o!

        • Since you are staying in Germany, maybe they should treat you the way NFF is treating GR, after all you are not “one of their kind” frustrated soul

          • JimmyBall 3 years ago

@Ola… No let me take you down this night o. Person wey working condition no favour am go resign! Rohr is not complaining…

          • Ako AMADI 3 years ago

Players dhould not come to Lagos if the backlog of their allowances have not been paid

          • Okeosisi 3 years ago

Let him behave like a white man and resign. He is not behaving like one and stop been compromised ok.

        • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

          Hahahahaha….Nice reply Ola.

          Bloody racist. “your own kind”…..LMAOOOOo.

You will gladly support “your own kind” for being devilish enough to owe a worker his wages but come here to brag about living in Europe…LMAOOoo

If “your own kind” have been good to you why were you trafficked to Europe in the first place…LMAOOooo

Bloody racist. Bad becomes good as far as it is perpetuated by “your own kind”….LMAOoooo.

I’ll rather inherit Rohr’s underwears than support evil simply because it is being done by “your own kind” Go and drink rat poison if it so pains you

I pray you NEVER get what rightly belongs to you wherever you are so that you too will feel what is means to be shortchanged at work and work but not get paid……please say AMEN to that since you support “your own kind”

Your hatred for Rohr and whites will just never let you want to see him make any headway in life.

Its high time the people who recently made the mistake of employing you without proper background checks to your real personality and all you are made of get notified and start covertly monitoring your activates on platforms such as CSN in order to see what potential risk they have within their employ.

Its bad to hire a chronic liar….its worse he he’s also racist and full of prejudices.

        • KENNETH 3 years ago

oGA YOU GET TIME TO BE ANSWERING SOME JOKERS ON THIS PLATFORM. eXCEPT THEY DON’T WANT TO BE SINCERE, THE ISSUE OF OWEING PLAYERS OR COACHES DIDN’T JUST START TODAY. IT WAS EVEN WORST BACK THEN, BECAUSE PLAYERS HAD TO BE PERSUADED TO EVEN PLAY THERE MATCHES. THE QUESTIONS TO BE ASKED IS WHY HAS THE NFF NOT BEING AUDITED. JUST LIKE YOU STATED, WHY MAKES EXCUSES FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT COMPLAINING. THAT ALONE SHOULD TELL US SOMETHING. WE DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH IS DUE TO THEM, EVERYONE IS JUST MAKING ASSUMPTIONS HERE. ROHR HOTEL BUSINESS MUST BE THRIVING FOR HIM TO STILL WANT TO REMAIN AT THE JOB.

          • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hahahahaha….bloody liar. Long mouthed pig. Disciple and servant of his lying majesty is here to stroke the loins of is king.

“…THE ISSUE OF OWEING PLAYERS OR COACHES DIDN’T JUST START TODAY. IT WAS EVEN WORST BACK THEN….”

Back then when…? When you were still in your mothers womb….? Or when you were still in jupiter where your master jimmylie went to liberate you from….?

Pls tell us which time or dispensation or regime or set of SE players to have EVER BEEN OWED FOR 2 YEARS. Tell us which SE coach got owed 6-7 months salary on yearly basis. Tell us which SE coach wickedly got shortchanged by 40% of his pay bcos the NFF and the Sports Ministry wickedly instructed to CBN never to allow him exchange his pay, but they themselves get their estacodes paid in US$ gotten from the same CBN…???

I still dont understand how common sense is so distant to some supposed human beings.

  • The list is OK..only that I would have preferred Ebuehi on the main list ahead of Shehu Or Omeruo.

    • Ololo 3 years ago

For me the list of very okay. All other right backs can play multiple positions only ebuehi restricted to one role so he is not indispensable, even akupogma plays right back for his club.

The only player that deserves to be on the list but isn’t is awoniyi but the coach wants familiar faces for now. He would surely get his chance too

      • @Ololo… Just like Aina, Ebuehi can also play from left but Collins cant and he’s on the list.
Like I said, the list is OK but against a country like Liberia , we need natural and offensive right backs

  • Coache 3 years ago

Since there will be ample players going to
Praia, why did he not invite Ighalo and Moses. The wind and altitude in Praia is dangerous. Before GR will start mentioning young team again and the pitch in Cabo Verde. But first let’s cross over Liberia first.

Just a reminder to the players, playing in Lagos is not Benin or Akwa Ibom ooooo. Lagos fans will format everybody if you guys mess up, God forbids

  • xhuxhu 3 years ago

Good squad list. I just wish NFF sorts out this shameful situation. Every news out of Nigeria is just shameful and shocking news.
God have mercy on our country

  • Ako AMADI 3 years ago

NFF must not think of sending players to Cape Verde by boat to save money. It’s very far away. The voyage lasts about 20 days

  • OmoEsan 3 years ago

I’m surprised no one has complained about the exclusion of Anayo Iwuala and John Noble in a 30 man list (not even a 23 man list ooo!). No one also complained about the absence of any NPFL player on the list.

    Interestingly even punch online reported ahead of time that Esperance had already received Anayo’s IV for this same qualifiers. See link below;

    https://punchng.com/esperance-confirm-iwualas-invitation-for-eagles-world-cup-qualifiers/

What is actually going on within that glass house?? All of a sudden the NPFL players are no more needed in SE right? All of a sudden the pressure on GR to invite home based to camp for ‘shoulder robbing’ has been suspended right? At least a $500,000 deal has been sealed for an hitherto $1m rated player, so pressure on GR for home based inclusion can be suspended, while the actors behind the scene are busy sharing and receiving their cuts from the proceeds.

Even if Enyimba FC seals this type of deal three times in a season, they will still owe players salaries , allowances and sign-on fees. They will still go cap in hand to Abia State government for bail outs.

GR should enjoy this moment while it lasts, cuz once they finish sharing and spending Anayo’s money, they will come back with another NPFL player and as usual , deploy their regular ex-internationals in leveraging their course in the media.

    What a federation.

    • My brother I see am ooo
This country na god go help us
Them wan just sell the guy then

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

We knew this was the plan all along. Only a naïve person will think otherwise. Everything around that clamour for homebased players had self-serving interest written all over it.

  • Sunnyb 3 years ago

Same lists same players no surprise, I was hoping to see Awoniyi and Sadiq in this list, we ve seen the best of iheanacho and Onuachu nothing special would come from them, I wish the team good luck regardless

  • Lord AMO 3 years ago

This isn’t going to be a popular comment but I support the Super Eagles players boycotting this invitation or further invites until all outstanding allowances and bonuses have been settled. Enough is enough with all this shame shame.

  • Omo9ja 3 years ago

Over the past five years our world class coach find it difficult to have a reliable goalie.

He have no confidence in our young goalies, why Oga Rohr and Agu keep inviting these young goalies into the camp then?

If you can not be bold enough with what you have then throw them away and invite another set of goalies.

    Why Akpeyi?

What has he done that merits his invitation since he have been keeping the post for Nigeria?

Osagwe is doing wonderfully well but our coaches doesn’t care about him.

The Isreal based Adebayó Adelęyę is also there, they over looked him.

The home based goalkeeper that manned the post against Mexico also available to play for Super Eagles but our best coaches decided to call Akpeyi back into the team?

The list looks good on paper as usual but on the pitch, I don’t know. Using wrong tactics against our opponents won’t work this time around the gaffer is very predictable.

The issue now is beyond money that NFF owed to our team and the coaches of the Super Eagles.

NFF should pay their money and they should not giving room for errors or excuses.

The coaches have tried and they can not over worked themselves. Can’t we see ni eeee. Akpeyi ba? What are these coaches building kę?

That shows the capacity of our coaches. They are not the right ones for the job period.

If Uzoho is not good enough, what is he doing with our national team.

If Okoye is not that good, he should be replaced.

Bringing Akpeyi back into that team is embarrassing. That means all the goalies are not reliable?

Well, your team is good as you are though.
Even if we make it to the world cup, what are we going to do there? To make up the number as usual abi?

I am deeply sorry for NFF for bringing us to this level. It is even better to spend all the money on our Super Falcons instead.

I have warned you Nigerians, don’t complain in the end.

All I can say now is good luck to our Super Eagles. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Bringing the best goalkeeper in the CAF CL last season back is embarrassing…..LMAOOoo.

I dont think there can be anything more embarrassing than having you as a member of one’s family

      • Omo9ja 3 years ago

Having you among humans is totally embarrassing because “Drey” should be in the bush not on CSN.

More so, calling yourself a doctor is a big disgrace to all doctors around the world.

I have home training. So, for that reason, I won’t get your family involved.

I don’t need to exchange words with you because every question has is own answer but not every question must be answered.

I can only respond to you logically. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

        • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hehehehe….You really have home training….LMAOOo…that is why the best goalkeeper in the CAF CL is an embarrassment to you. Whoever gave you the training needs training.

You dont need to exchange words with me…..far from it. You arent even in the class of human beings who are fit to do so in any sort of discussion, logical or otherwise, with me.

Once again, I dont think there can be anything more embarrassing than having a confused retard like you as a member of one’s family.

Its so easy and sweet for you to refer to someone else as an embarrassment, but want to run mad because same compliment was extended to you…..LMAOooo…..bloody hypocrite.

NFF needs to get away from CHRONIC DEBTOR mentality.
There are so many ways to raise money.
One way is that NFF can issue bonds that are government backed. Private investors can buy the bonds. Just give the investors a 5% return, and make it tax free. Investors will be falling over themselves, competing for those bonds. In addition to this bond money coming in, FIFA and CAF money, endorsement money from sponsors like Adidas, Nike and so on, and other revenues will also be coming in. NFF will never be broke again. Finally, the NFF books must be audited annually by a reputable accounting firm, as a service to the government, investors, and the general public.
The only “downside” to this measure is that the ability of officials to engage in corruption will be significantly minimized. A downside to them, but a huge upside to the rest of us!
NFF, be creative and proactive in sourcing funds. Stop disgracing yourselves and the country with your CHRONIC INDEBTEDNESS!

  • pompei 3 years ago

For instance, if the NFF issues $100 million worth of bonds to the public. That is potentially $5 million in tax free interest for investors. Nigerian has quite a few billionaires in US dollars who will be very interested in something like this. Banks will also compete for this business. Even if in the end, NFF ends up raising just half of that, which is $50 million, is that not more than enough to fund all the Super Eagles expenses? This model can be used to raise funds, not just for the NFF, but for the entire Sports Ministry. The only government involvement will be backing the bonds. And the 5% interest cost can be borne by the government, or be shared between the government and the NFF, or any other sports body issuing the bonds. Just audit the bond beneficiaries annually, and do the whole thing again the next year!

    • onwajunior 3 years ago

Lol.. U r talking about NFF oh. In that country that nothing ever works. If memory serves me right bond is supposed to be low risk, but I can assure u that those guys at NFF won’t service it. Somehow they’ll still owe

      • pompei 3 years ago

My brother, the situation get as e be. I want to believe that not all our leaders are thieves. Some of them want to do the right thing. If the bond issue is done honestly, and the funds are properly managed, this is one way NFF can say goodbye to BROKENESS. But as you said, it is Nigeria. In a corrupt environment, the chances of success are low, if not zero.
But bonds is just one of many ways. NFF should get creative and look for solutions to their money problems.

  • pompei 3 years ago

Good list. But missing some names. Sadiq Umar and Calvin Bassey are 2 names I expected to see on the list. Unless these 2 have expressly stated that they are not interested in playing for the SE, then I don’t understand their exclusion.

  • Sunnyb 3 years ago

Sleek and speedy players like Awoniyi and Sadiq would be nightmares for these reckless tackler African defenders, easier for them to unluck and penetrate this African defense than iheanacho and static Onuachu, Rohr should pls invite these guys in nearest future we need them, iheanacho and Onuachu can’t offer anything new.

  • TALK UR OWN 3 years ago

THE LIST IS GOOD BUT IT’S GETTING NO MORE INTERESTED.
FOR GOD SAKE WHAT THE LIKE OF EBUEHI, ONYEKURU, MOFFI, EJUKE IS DOING ON STANDBY, INFANT THIS IS UNFAIR, I DON’T KNOW THE CRITERIA WE ARE USING TO SELECT PLAYERS. WHAT COLLINS, OMERUO, KALU ARE DOING IN MAIN LIST. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT EVERYBODY KNOW THE POTENTIAL OF ONYEKURU IF NOT BCOZ OF CLUB UNSETTLEMENT. EJUKE IS GETTING HIS RHYTHMS GRADUALLY IN RUSSIA. MOFFI IS THE BEST NIGERIA PLAYERS IN FRANCE INSTEAD OF KALU THAT IS HALF FITTED (he always hide injury like in AFCON 2019). THE WORST PART ON STANDBY LIST IS EBUEHI, ROHR IS GRADUALLY MAKING THIS PLAYER TO BE FRUSTRATED BY CHOOSING TO PLAY FOR NIGERIA BY ALWAYS FAIL TO USE HIM AHEAD OF COLLINS. IN 2017, U PUT EBUEHI ON BENCH THROUGHOUT THE W/C QUALIFIERS WHILE HE WAS IN TOP FORM FOR ADO DEN HAAG IN NETHERLAND. INFANT EBUEHI IS ALWAYS IN TOP FORM.
‍‍‍‍‍‍ NIGERIA WILL PROTEST AGAINST THE EXCLUSION OF EBUEHI, ONYEKURU ON MAIN LIST. IAM TIRED

  • If ndidi, etebo, iwobi and frank go back to UK after the first match who will play in midfield? Is it innocent bonke who has been playing in sweden or kingsley Michael that plays in Italy. Coach rohr seems to pick certain players based on their current club status. Bonkes team qualified for the group stage of the champions league but will he be able to adjust to the National team in a short while and kingsley, I dont know his current form or if he is ready for the Super Eagles yet. I expected Rohr to call players like yusuf, nwobodo or even nwakali, they could provide a balance midfield in the absence of the regular players. I hope it all works out in the end. Good luck to them.

    • Rotimi 3 years ago

Am expecting GR to invite Nwakali, yusuf, Azeez n others to replace our key midfielders who will miss Cape Verde due to UK rule on covid 19. Those new invitees have not played together before and this can affect us cos all the invited midfield players didn’t qualify

  • Collins is still in this team, no room for marcus Abraham, there are so many exciting players out there and though I know the coach is calling his trusted legs for the games, he should have considered one or two players who can make a difference in the team.
Moffi on standby ahead of Awoniyi and sadiq? Hmmm lets see how it goes.

  • Chibuike 3 years ago

All this people criticising Rohr, una eyes will open when this man leave. This is how we lost Oga Jonathan and vote in buhari, today people dey cry. God is about to punish Nigeria with another I don’t care coach since una no wan appreciate Good things. I always tell my friends that God use buhari to punish Nigeria since una no dey appreciate good thing. All this ex international will not tolerate NFF curopt game. They will come and run like Oliseh.

  • Musa again Haba!!!! Rohr is on his pay roll.. Musa. I Hope Udinese Move Unlocks Isaac Success career again.. but on the basis of this Isaac Success and Ahmed Musa play in the same position. Success had a good end to the season and sealed what I belive is a upgrade of a Move to Udinese Italy a big team. Italy just won the Euros. Turkey were embarrassed at the Euro’s. Most of the Italian Squad play in Italy, Success came from England where he showed improvement towards the End another Bigger League than Turkey. Musa is playing for a Low League team in Turkey. Most of the Turkey squad play for the Top teams in Turkey which Musa can’t even make the bench i.e Fenerbache, Galatasaray and Besiktas. Oh and Let me not Forget along with Ihenacho SUccess was the Other star of UAE 2013 under 17 world cup. Which shows potential wise Success is on that level.

I Mean I am not the Coach of SE. But shouldn’t this some of the things a coach should do as Homework before releasing a squad list. I mean any coach in Europe would have selected Isaac Success over Ahmed Musa. If Spain can drop Ramos for Euro’s Who is Musa and what hold does he have on this Coach???

    • Dr. Banks 3 years ago

@Ugo Iwunze, Which Success are you talking about? How many goals did he score last season (only one goal in a championship league season) and you claimed he had a good end to that season.

Success was the other star in UAE 2013 U-17 WC along Iheanacho? He scored only 1 goal and played only 1 match in which he was injured…………how does that make him a star??? Sometimes I don’t know what some guys smoke before posting such comment like yours hen

    • Profjeff 3 years ago

This your comment doesn’t make any sense,so success should be called up because he won u17 world cup and he just sealed a move after being surplus to requirement.tell us what success has achieved since he came to england and how many minutes he has played for the past two years,he was never a regular at Watford.if u were making a case for awoniyi,it would have been sensible….how many minutes has success even played this season.presently, success isnt even among the top 10 nigerian forwards in europe.allow the young man resuscitate his career

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

When we tell dem to drink responsibly, they will say we are insultive….LMAOOoo. Mr, was your brain aware of what your fingers were typing when you typed this crap…???

Tribal bigot….LMAOOoo. All of a sudden Isaac Success and Ahmed Musa now play in the same position….LMAOoooo

    • @ugo:

David Okereke got a move to Italy was not called up. Simy “the Italian wonder” Nwankwo has been there since, he did not get called up, Ebuehi got a move to Italy he is on standby, it is Isaac Success that will now get a call up based on his move to Italy lolololol

      • THe point Iam trying to make is Success would bring much more than Musa will, He was pivotal in Watford Winning the Championship which is a far stronger league than NPFL whew Musa was languishing if that’s the real reason he went back home as i suspect the real reason was Woman… before then he hadn’t kicked a ball in months almost a year.

So for me Success will have more of an impact than Musa in those games..

And please i am talking about Players who come in from the Wings where does Simmy Nwankwo come into this does he even have pace in his legs???? and Simmy moved to Salernitana a team that is only playing in Seria A for the 3rd time in their history if not first were as Udinese is a established club in Seria A. Also we know what simy can give Success still has to be unleashed.

Look all i am saying is even a NPFL player playing regularly is better than Musa at this point

        • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hahahahaha…..FAT LIAR….lmao. Jimmylie come and carry your new recruit o. LMAOOoo

Imagine the lame and equally senseless defense to an already senseless previous post….LMAOOooo

Success was pivotal in Watford Winning the Championship….? with his 1 goal and zero assists in 10 games he managed to play out of a possible 46….? LMAOOooo.

An in which planet did Watford win the Championship..??

Musa hadnt kicked a ball in a year…LMAOOo…the same Musa that played for Al Nassr up till the last week in October of 2020 or another one…?

Success will bring more than Musa…LMAOOoo…the way he has been bringing more to the Super Eagles b4 now…or the way he has been bringing more to Watford with his 6 goals and 6 assists in 5 seasons in ALL competitions….LMAOOOo

Watford couldn’t wait to offload the player they paid a total of 15m for….LMAOOOo…thats almost 3m for each goal and assist per season….LMAOOoo. I dont think Watford ever signed a greater flop in their history. They just gladly dashed him out to their sister club Udinese without even collecting money despite all his pleas that he wants to stay….LMAOOoo…they were just too relived to get him off their wage bill.

Please go back to the rehab you escaped from…because apparently common sense has departed from you long ago.

The fact that you are even comparing a 1 goal per season center-forward with a winger who averages 7 goals per season and has already hit the Turkish league with a bang with 1 goal and 1 assist on his debut shows the level of insanity to which your tribal bigotry has degraded your senses.

It isnt by force to comment on CSN….you will do yourself a world of good to keep your gut shut rather than spew the sewage you are spewing from your gutters at the moment.

“…any coach in Europe would have selected Isaac Success over Ahmed Musa…”….LMAOoooo

        • Incase you don’t know, this same group that owns watford owns udinese, so success movement to there is more of a “transfer” not that udinese bought him because he is that good. Same way Troost Ekong was transferred to help watford gain promotion.

So your assertion about Success is this, Isaac is that is wrong, with the form he is currently, not even Liberia can invite him..

          • @Ola He will still bring more than Musa. Okay oo i don hear una. My case is not really about Success because I know all that the form he showed towards the end of the season was good and way more than Musa has showed in 2years at any club, besides his flash in the pan performances for SE once in a while.. which even that he can’t deliver anymore.

Success main problem is ill discipline.. Maybe yes he does not merit a call up just yet BT NEITHER DOES MUSA IS MY POINT WHAT CAN”T YOU GUYS GET ABOT THAT??, At least in Success case there is hope and room for growth and of course potential in Musa case I am sorry but Rohr is on his pay roll because he is DONE!!!.

Not even Fedral Government girls College of Abuloma PHC will take him.

@Ugo Iwunze… We know success has it in him to show what he can do… However, an invite for him now would not be justifiable under any known fair rules to go by…

You can even see Simy Nwankwo isn’t part of the pack yet. This move to Udinese should profit success as he has a good chance to play himself back into reckoning but must prove that with visisble stats…

I see Awoniyi and Sadiq more as deserving now but again, everyone cannot be invited at once. I believe at some point Awoniyi, Simy and Sadiq will still get involved especially if they begin to hug the right headlines again this season..

It will only be fair to see what the group now invited will do and hopefully they can post a good result in Lagos and Praia…

          • @iwunze hope you are satisfied with @jimmball explanation. It’s simple logic. You don’t just argue against a fact just because you hate musa. It doesn’t help your contribution in this platform

        • Football is about now. What the player is doing now. Isaac Success can take his place behind Osimhen, Iheanacho, Onuachu, Awoniyi, Simy, Moffi, Onyekuru, Musa, Simon, Sadiq, Olayinka, Dennis, Dessers and Ejuke at this time.

Isaac success has not done anything of note for 3 plus years and can count himself lucky that the club owners of Watford and Udinese chose to give him a final chance to prove himself in a new environment instead of freeing him from his contract.

Yes, he may revive his career come the new season (football is about now, remember?), but he has done nothing to deserve a Super Eagles callup since his last one in 2017. That is 4 years that others have deserved it more than him.

Mentioning his name alongside all those players is actually an insult to those who were banging in goal after goal after goal in the last six months.

Ahmed Musa actually scored a goal this current season in his new club, when was Isaac Success’s last goal? Probably month and months ago

No talk am outside oh, eeh fit cause fight for where you dey lol

  • Musa’s Club form has been dropping since he left Russia which is 5yrs now. Only in Nigeria I guess

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

I guess Mikel’s club form was rising after he left Chelsea….same as Yobo’s club form after he left Everton…..LMAoOOo

Continue smoking whatever you are smoking

      • SO basically you are saying Musa is finished because the above two you have mentioned are almost retired and retired respectivey. SO you are in agreance that ur god Musa is done. come oo @Dr Drey which kin kai-kai you dey nack for yor side sef??.. because sense you nor get.

        • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hehehehe….onuku….bloody bigot, I never knew you also do not comprehend English….LMAOOoo. If to say you get sense you for nor disgrace yourself up there comparing Isaac Success with Ahmed Musa……LMAOAOooo

I am reminding you that they were national team captains who still featured for Nigeria at Major tournaments like the AFCON and World-cup despite “dropping club form” and were allowed to retire in peace by themselves with due honour and respect. Keshi was even clubless going into AFCON, yet was also allowed to lead his team and retire honourably in peace.

But what is good for the goose seems not to be good for the gander because Musa obviously is not of your stock. Your tribal bigotry and hatred for Musa simply because he is a northern Muslim knows no bounds.

Haba @ugo iwunze, your talk tire me ooo. Which one is “any coach in Europe would have selected Isaac Success over Ahmed Musa”? I mean are you serious? Are you really serious??!
Isaac success, though one with immense potential, can’t even give his Watford coach a little assurance that he is good enough to at least serve as a backup to Dennis Bonaventure. And Dennis wasn’t even called. Lol! Abeg if na joke stop am. You made it sound like Rohr had never given Success a chance before. Is success good? Yes. But let him get his career on track.
“Success had a good end to the season.” This statement is incomplete. You should have added “… in championship”. Lol. The highest goal scorer of championship – Ivan Toney – wasn’t invited to Euro and on one blinked an eye. That’s the league Success scored just one goal in ten appearances. Please don’t make me laugh. And the Musa you are complaining about walked right straight into the starting eleven of a team that finished sixth in a league that is ranked among the top 10 in the world. When Musa was clubless and kept receiving invitation from Rohr you all were screaming. But you didn’t know what Rohr was seeing in training. Let’s not talked about the psychological advantage of Musa brings as leader and as arguably the most patriotic. The players you should be complaining about sef are Taiwo Awoniyi, Obinna Nwobodo and Umar Sadiq.
My only dissatisfaction in the list is that Rohr picked Collins and Shehu ahead of Ebuehi. Some people are even saying we have seen the all of Iheanacho. I thank God Rohr didn’t consult their opinion when compiling the list. Because it is obvious they didn’t watch the last two matches if the afcon qualifiers.
Oh, before I forget, where are all the home based advocators?? I remember how much debate happened on this forum because of them. Now what had happened? Their best of the best – Iwula – can’t even make super eagles 30 man squad. Heck, I doubt he will make the 50 man squad. That’s what happen when players are chosen based on merit not on geographical location. Just one match against Mexico quieted home based politicians.
Let Rohr do his job because the last time I checked he is on track.

    • Dr. Drey 3 years ago

Hahahahaha Kignston…..”Just one match against Mexico quieted home based politicians…” Abeg no let laughter make my blood pressure rise biko….LMAOooo.

Its so shocking how a player can be good enough to make SE 23 man squad because he’s homebased but not good enough to make even a 35man squad once he’s no longer homebased.

I have been expecting people to raise eyebrows about Anayo Iwuala’s name missing in this list…..LMAOOOoo….but even the people who wanted us to roll out the drums and sing hallelujah because their $1m MVP boy transferred to Espereance of Tunisia cannot even complain…..LMAOOooo.

As for that bigot above….just ignore him….he’s just looking for attention. A centre-forward who provided 6 goals and 6 assists in 5 seasons in ALL competitions is the one “any coach in Europe would have selected Isaac Success over Ahmed Musa”…..LMAOOoo.

Isaac success had a good end to a season in which he scored 1 goal, same number he scored the previous season…LMAOOOo…1 goal per season centre forward…..LMAOOOoo. Watford practically paid $3m for every goal Isaac success scored in the 5 years he was at the club.

Rohr picked Shehu ahead of Ebuehi because he will be useful in our second game.
Shehu will likely play in the central midfield to cover for Etebo/Aribo whereas Bonke should man the defensive midfield in the absence of Ndidi.

  • Nice list…..no list can satisfy 200 million people 100 percent
