2022 WAFCON: Hosts Morocco Overcome Botswana To Seal First Ever World Cup Qualification

Hosts Morocco have qualified for next year’s FIFA women’s World Cup, after defeating debutants Botswana 2-1 in the second quarter-final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Wednesday.

Morocco have now qualified for next year’s women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, their first ever at the global stage.

Sanaa Massoudy gave Morocco the perfect start in the third minute after getting onto a set piece and slotting past the keeper.

But just four minutes after going behind, Botswana equalized thanks to a wonderful left foot free-kick from Keitumetse Dithebe.

The quarter-finals will continue on Thursday with champions Super Falcons of Nigeria facing Cameroon and South Africa tackle Tunisia.

Earlier on Wednesday, Zambia became the first team from this ongoing WAFCON to qualify for the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup.

The Copper Queens beat Senegal 4-3 on penalties after both sides played 1-1 after 120 minutes.

WHAT EXACTLY DID NIGERIANS DO TO SOUTH AFRICANS
Today, after the match day WAFCON, one of the South African supersport analyst asked which team will qualify to the world cup? The man amongst the women said he wish all COSAFA team to be in the world cup. The woman asked again, between Cameroon and Nigeria which of them will go to SF? They all said in one accord that Cameroon will go through because they are better. Since they made that statement, I nor go lie, my spirit man dey vex. Why are the beef? SA hate us ohhhh. Nawa! I wish ours girls could humiliate their opponent tomorrow. God Bless Super Falcons, God Bless Nigeria.

There’s only one reason why SA and Ghanaians beef Nigerians……I think it’s jealousy. Despite our horrible leaders and governance, there’s is so much talent and we always prevail and we will tomorrow and whoop SA in the final but we must not underrate any team. Female football in Africa has grown at a rapid speed and the gaps have been closed.

You shouldn’t be surprised. South Africans are always like that. Reason I hate it when we allow them beat us in any match. But not to worry. Their opinion doesn’t matter. Camerron will collect today. If the coach gets his selection and tactics right, we will beat them silly. We put ourselves in this position by that lacklustre performance in the first match. South Africa hasn’t done anything meaningful since that match. I wish us the best

These Moroccan ladies sabi ball o. Especially that number 11.  Their style of play is fluid and easy on the eyes.  Very skillful, good movement, touch and ball control.  They play just like their male counterparts

Moroccans were backed up with home advantage, though they improve in the round leather game. but not fantastic as described to defeat their next opponent come on Sunday. God bless Super Falcons, God Bless Nigeria.

  • Nigeria Match against bostwana, the panelist all predicted 2:1 against nigeria, but, after the match they all ate their words…nvever worry, they are not going to the world cup…because SA WILL BE DEFEATED TODAY !!

Nigeria is to blame for the hatred that SA have for us.
We no do well at all. Look at what we have done to them in football. Their eye don see something for Nigeria matter.
In the 1990s, Yekini and co. did not allow them to drink water and drop cup. Na so so WOTOWOTO up and down. The Super Falcons too did not give them any respite, beating them black and blue anytime they clashed on the pitch.
That is why the hatred is so much. The bad belle and jealousy has reached a point where they don’t want to see Nigeria succeed in football. Their commentators are low key when Nigeria is doing well, but become excited and even joyous when we are losing.
Hahaha, football rivalry no be small thing ooo!
