FIFA confirmed it is reviewing South Africa’s formal complaint to replay their Group G World Cup qualifier 1-0 defeat against Ghana on Sunday.
SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed they had made a “formal complaint” immediately after the match at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
In addition, former referee Ace Ncobo claimed that a staggering 89.3% of incorrect decisions from referee Maguette Ndiaye went against Bafana Bafana.
Ghana were awarded a controversial penalty in the 33rd minute after Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey was adjudged to have been fouled.

“Yes, I can confirm that we acted immediately by registering [a complaint] with the match commissioner last night,” Motlanthe told Kickoff.com.
“The penalty issue, from where I was seated, it didn’t look legit. It is sad that referees decide the games at this level.
“Having seen what the team went through it is disheartening and we salute the Technical Team and the players for showing the fighting spirit despite the match officials’ conduct.”
FIFA confirmed in a statement that they were in the process of reviewing the official complaint by SAFA.
“FIFA has received a complaint from the South African FA in relation to this matter and will review it. Please understand we cannot comment further at this stage.,” A FIFA official said.
Bafana were previously involved in a replay during a 2018 World Cup qualifier against Senegal after the referee was found guilty of match manipulation.

Why didn’t our ladies launch complains to fifa? For the fact you’re comfortable with injustice doesn’t necessarily mean someone else should be comfortable with it

SAFA is always crying foul where there’s none. Ghana is far more better for God’s sake.

2018 FiFA granted South Africa replay, and now they are looking for another replay. must they use the back door all the time? where dem dey wen their mates dey qualify seamlessly ??? abeg eeeeeeeeh
No rather Senegal got a replay
The South Africans know this game so well, that’s why they are appealing. They are good at it themselves, they did it to Senegal in 2018, they were awarded a penalty for a non existing hand ball, thanks to FIFA who ordered a rematch and Senegal thougt them a lesson.
Amartey was fouled….there was a contact( he was pulled…. and he made good use of the opportunity my adding some exaggeration to his fall)…..
The South African officials are all saying it doesn’t look a penalty from their viewing side of the pitch…. I wondered if they had not watch it on ‘slow mo’after the match.
Anyways… both teams if they even qualify for the World Cup won’t do Africa proud…. teams with poor performance so far…. South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria……. big up to Burkina Faso and CIV,,, they would have made Africa proud in the world cup
This is rubbish in African football. No VAR, the ref decision should be respected. The way, forward to introduce VAR.
