2022 WCQ: Super Eagles Will Raise Their Game In Final Playoff -Nwosu

Former Nigerian midfielder, Henry Nwosu says he’s confident the Super Eagles will scale through the 2022 World Cup final playoff against any team they face.

Recall that on Tuesday, Nigeria inked a place in March’s Playoff Round of CAF World Cup Qualifying with a 1-1 draw against Cape Verde.

Gernot Rohr’s men opened the scoring through Victor Osimhen just one minute into the game. But Cape Verde equalized just five minutes later through Stopira.

Reacting to the team’s qualification to the knockout stages, Nwosu in an interview with Completesports.com said that the team should not be judged with their performance against Cape Verde.

He opined that the Super Eagles will display a different ball game against any team they face in the playoff.

“I have no doubt that the Super Eagles will qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar despite struggling to overcome Cape Verde. Like you, it is when the chips are down that’s when the Super Eagle always raise the standard of their game.

“I quite agree with you that Nigeria’s next opponent in the playoff will be tough going by the teams that have qualified. But I am 100% sure we will qualify.”

Hopefully they do..playoff at time teams need to win good at home to make the return leg much easier but super eagles struggle even playing at home

    • Guess what bro with our ranking we will be going away first and coming home for the return leg.

Unreasonable optimism. This team is on life support, don’t expect miracle guys.

Bunch of dreamers, with iheanacho, onuachu, Iwobi and Ekong this team is not going anywhere plus u guys don’t ve a coach. Few good men on this forum has been sounding the alarm for months , this’s what tribalism, nepotism, corruption and incompetence breeds. This team is not going to the World Cup .

    • We say all this things but people wil even abuse u wen u say the truth .

Nigerians, the truth must be told. This current eagles need to raise up their game if they hope to go past this playoffs. The two central pairings are suspects, Find a quick solution. Both of this two oyibo are not confident enough. Never play shehu Abdullah,he is way below standard. Coach Rohr, find a natural right full back, plz play two pacy wingers at the same time in Chukweze and the C.S.K man, Chidaira, play Ndidi and frank Oyenka, holding midfielders,Play Aribo just behind the striker in Victor Osihmen. If you do this, then Right, you will save your job and save millions kf Nigerians from heart attack.I foresee Robe getting sacked, he is stubborn and very slow to make changes that can affect a game. Good luck Super Eagles.

Guy,you are coach already.May God upgrade your horizon and move you up.You are good

  • The coach just need to get his selection right my opinion is play chuks and ejuke on the flank, aina and siadu full back in a 433 formation with osimen upfront.these guys can trouble any defense anytime any day

Gernot Rohr’s problem is his failure to stick to the formation the players are used to. Instead of reverting to 3-4-3 that is obscure to most of the players, why not sticking to 4-3-3?

    • If we can’t judge their performance against Cape Verde then possibly we will judge them against Argentina or Crotia.

You can only give what you have, how can they raise their game when they don’t have any game at all? Maybe they have a 50-50 chance if they are lucky enough to get Congo or Mali, but against Ghana, Cameron or Egypt we can only hope.

    • Y’all just a bunch of naysayers and ignoramus bunch. Talking as of they won’t have better time to prepare for next round with our players touted to be watched by better teams in consider football.
Someone is mentioning 4-3-3 as a system of play to adopt. Let me ask you, how many subsides use the 4-3-3 system today and win. If you have been following football at all, you will see that in club football its mostly 3-4-3, 4-1-4-1, 3-5-2 and least of all 4-5-1. 4-3-3 is dead today.

  • Open a camp in Europe for eagles where they wil report to after games in their club before December ending and they should play friendly with clubs there .this wil make them strong .
