2022 W’Cup Playoff: Why Eagles Need Lookman Against Ghana –Amuneke

Super Eagles coach, Emmanuel Amuneke says the addition of Leicester City forward, Ademola Lookman to the team’s fold will further help Nigeria’s chances of overcoming the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2022 World Cup Playoff.

Recall that the former England youth international was cleared by FIFA to switch allegiance from England to Nigeria.

In a chat with Daily Post, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner, described Lookman as a player who will add more value and bite to the Super Eagles attack.

He also noted that playing regularly for the Foxes in the Premier League will also sharpen him for the task against the Black Stars.

“He is a great addition to the team, a player who is ready to give his best anytime he is called upon.

“Playing regularly for Leicester City shows he has come of age and ready for the big occasion.

“That explains why we need him in our fold.

“I am happy he has agreed to join,” Amuneke said.

This lad made me stop the clamour for Victor Moses. His quick feet, ball sense and goals return will come in handy as we square up against our biggest rival on the continent.

Pls anyone with a link to the game in Ivory Coast?Ty

    • @Greenturf I hate it when you people say things like that. This lad made you stop the clamour for Victor Moses. What sort of things is that. Must things always be half hearted in Nigeria. Is that not a poor defeatist mentality. Why not hav3 both Victor Moses and Lookman would it not make sense to have both weapons in a world Cup year. Yet you people Musa this Musa that all the time. Inshort only God go Judge una.what rubbish!!!!!

      • Greenturf 2 years ago

Relax @Ugo Iwunze you stress too much..Victor Moses ain’t coming back to the super eagles, deal with it.
Nigeria is too big for one player let’s focus our energy rather on the ones with interests to play for us.

      • Uwunze. So we have to pack all Nigeria yo beg Victor Moses. Common let us move on. He is not ready. We have lookman. Let us move in with lookman.

Victor Moses would be a great one for us if he returns. He was so exceptional in the Europa league matches I watched playing at Right wing back. But he won’t probably come now.

  • please if you have link to AWCON Qualifier between Super Falcon Vs Lady Elephant of Ivory Coast please kindly inform us on this platform even if it is live scores. Thanks

    • Check the The Nigeria Football Federation page on Facebook. CIV in traditional orange, SF in dark green.

This is where tactics come in. Well observations @coach Amunike. Having Lookman in the Super Eagles is not enough in that match because he can’t do it all. The combinations of Simon Moses, Osimeh and Lookman will be too much for Ghana. They have to work collectively to make Eagles compact.

The combinations of Ademola Lookman, Dessers and Moses Simon upfront will be vital and essential against Ghana.

Am not a coach but if I were the coaching crew, we saw what Sodiq, Awoniyi and Olayinka did in Cameroon, there’s no room for such a thing this time around. Super Eagles need a striker who can blend with the team quickly.

We saw the way Ashley, the new Falcons defender introduction against Ivory coast, she reacted quickly and proved her worth.

Going by that, I think the coaches shouldn’t be biased against Ghana. We need two reliable strikers that can take their chances and I will go for Dessers and Osimhen.

These two strikers with our wingers Kai, I am deeply sorry for Ghana ooo. Oga Amunike, please we need our best players to represent Nigeria and no more recycling players if Super Eagles have to get the job done against Ghana. Go luck to Super Eagles. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • You guys have started talking. The coaches should have learned to keep their plans to their chest. Why are we so loud?

    • On Desser I can only agree with this daddy. Lol

      • Edoman 2 years ago

Desser again? No way. Paul Onuachu & Amoo are far ahead of Desser.

  • These coaches should please talk less. Abeg!!
Keep your plans to your chest.

    • Ugo. What’s wrong. I alwsy enjoy reading your comment but sometimes you need to let go of something. Moses okayed in the last words cup, what was his impact. As if Moses will win us the world cup. He said he does not want o play, you said the coach should invite him. I tire o my brother. On Musa, you are still on this issue. My guy,… aaaah

      • MONKEY POST 2 years ago

LMFAO!!Don’t tell me that you don’t know @Ugo Iwunze is on drugs.. LMFAO!!

      • Hi, @Ugo Iwunze’s call is sensible pls. Even you Sir,yes you, is it everything you do that outsiders understand? We are all outsiders to Moses’ action.

We are talking of a corrupt NFF here and virtually everyone agrees it is true. We are talking of a new regime that seeks to play a better brand of football than the Rohr era and a lot of us agree it is true.

Moses stopped playing during the Rohr era. Do you really know what happened? You are reading from the press, press people that can easily lie(or be sensational) to you and side with the authorities.

At a time Eto’o, Adebayor, even Aubameyang refused to play for their respective nations, but it was resolved and they played again. What is our own sef? We go just hear news from the media and we just believe,as if the media is perfect.

This is not about begging anybody. He may have a good reason to quit based of the Rohr regime and for professional reasons he won’t publicise it, he will only say a little to the press. Ighalo retired from the team, even signed a contract with his current club precluding him from playing for his country, but today he is back.

I don’t know,do we think players are animals? Don’t you know they are human beings like you and I? You might be surprised it is a certain wrong practice in Rohr’s time that affected him and a little discussion will clear it.

Victor Moses is still world class till tomorrow,I wasn’t even waiting for him to shine in the Russian league before I kept saying how much we have been missing him.

One thing I can imagine is people like dem Amunike know how to run dis player packages. After Ghana and we qualify, this crew will look for Victor.

If they do and he still says “no” ehen, we can move on! God blessed us with many talents. Not that you and I will stay here and be relying on only what NFF say, or the press, when we have not truly heard all of Moses’ side of the story. Moses said

  • The Falcons match is the 86th minute and still goaless. From the stats, it seams the falcons are playing better. The possession is 51 to 49 advantage falcons, and falcons has had more dangerous attack than the Ivorians. My only concern is that the falcons are able to end the match with 11 players, because they have had 6 yellow cards so far.

  • 1-0 Nig

  • Woah Falcons just scored

Fulltime its Nigeria 1 nil congratulations falcons!

  • Four four two 2 years ago

Wow, The keep two clean sheets against a team with the highest goals so far in the qualifiers is amazing. Falcons defence is really solid and their goal keeper very good.

    • Greenturf 2 years ago

As well the coach who won plaudits for getting the job done in the first leg with a master tactics that stopped the high scoring ivoriens from causing havocs.
He repeated that feat away from home and should be lauded for a job well done.
