2022 World Cup: Black Stars Still A Work In Progress –Rahman

Ghana defender, Baba Abdul-Rahman has commended the Black Stars victory over Nicaragua in Tuesday’s international friendly match.

Recall that the team defeated Nicaragua 1-0 as they fine tune preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar,

The Black Stars are pitted in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

However, in his official twitter handle, Rahman stated that the team is still a work in progress,

“Good exercise with the national team. More work to do but we will get there. Thanks for all the support and love. God bless our homeland and make us great and strong,” the Tweet reads.

Rahman has made three appearances in the Championship this season for Reading on loan from Chelsea. He has scored one goal for the Black Stars of Ghana in 44 games.

The Black Stars of Ghana first qualified for the FIFA World Cup in Germany 2006. They were the only team from Africa to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament and they lost 3-0 to Brazil in the round of 16 at the Westfalenstadion on June 27.

Ghana are in real trouble with the disgraceful performance we saw against Brazil. Where will they find more skillful and tactically disciplined footballers in 50 days before Qatar?

Ghana can still improve before the world cup and may even spring surprises at the world cup, you don’t look down on any team in soccer, especially at the world cup.

Uruguay just beat Mexico 5-0. Ghana should tighten up and do whatever possible to improve before the world cup starts.

I am a Nigerian in the USA and a soccer fan. If Ghana does well, it will do well for itself and Africa. Ditto for all African teams in this year’s WC. We need to provide support to Ghana and all African teams in this WC. Ghana did not use mago-mago to beat us. They qualified cleanly and clearly thanks to Uzoho and Eguavon. Eguavon still has a job in Nigerian football. Uzoho continued to be beaten by long range shots. The new Coach needs to wake up. He needs to find flair players who can dribble and pass. The defense does well except for let downs by our goalies. Very rarely do we concede more than two goals even against top teams. The future looks good.
