Nottingham Forest have celebrated their striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick while Awoniyi and Ademola Lookman scored a goal each in the encounter.
Nottingham Forest took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to hail Awoniyi.
“@taiwoawoniyi18 on the scoresheet as Nigeria defeat Sao Tome and Principe in their final AFCON qualifier,” the Tweet read.
Awoniyi has scored four goals and made one assist in three Premier League games for Forest this season.
The Super Eagles finished top of Group A of the AFCON qualifiers with 15 points from six games.
Next year’s AFCON will take place in Côte d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11 2024.
