2023 U-20 W/Cup: Bosso Reflects On Flying Eagles’ Win Over Italy, Thanks Critics

Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso has reacted to his side’s victory against Italy on Wednesday night.

The West Africans defeated the Gil Azzurrini 2-0 in their second Group D game at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Bosso’s side sealed a place in the Round of 16 following the win.

Salim Fago and Jude Sunday scored both goals for the Flying Eagles.

“You have seen it, it’s a good thing that we have orientated our boys on how to get the Italians, and we stuck to our tactics,” Bosso said after the game.

After the first half, we tried to reinforce the team so that if we could not score, we shouldn’t be able to concede [goals], and eventually, it went for us.

“So that is a good thing that the boys are working according to the tactics, and the praise goes to Almighty Allah that we have gotten the victories.”

Bosso, who first led the Flying Eagles to the 2007 World Cup in Canada, took a jibe at fans and the local media who have vilified him over team selection and tactics by dedicating the win over Italy to them.

“I dedicate this victory to those who criticise me,” Bosso revealed.

“Their criticisms have certainly kept me on my toes.”

The Flying Eagles will take on Brazil in their final group game in La Plata on Saturday.

We acknowledge your dedication and we are glad you listened to us and made the needed correction. Another thing is Haliru Sarki the No7 winger who’s very talented but has very poor final touch please educate him on how to make his final ball productive because he is wasting his talent after going back markers and not knowing how to pass or when to shoot. Once again thank you for making us happy after Ugbade’s golden boys unfortunate exit at the u17 afcon.

Mugu why not wait till u win the tournament before mocking ur critics

  • No hard feeling ladan and nothing personal. If you flounder again we will be right back on your case. Please tell your forward lines to avoid been selfish and pass the ball instead of going for individual glory. That game would have been put to bed on at least 3 occasions before the second goal.

Again why always remove fago after 60 minutes? His aggressive play is needed when you have to press higher up and his hold up play takes a lot of pressure off the defence.

I can see 5 or 6 players who will step up to the SE immediately after the championship,Daga, Eletu,Anagbioso,Jude Sunday, Bameyi,Ogwuche and Fredricks and Agbalaka Later.Bosso himself should step up as Assistant coach in SE.

Yes we have qualified but the final classification still matters. If we lose to Brazil and Italy pummelled Dominica as expected, That will see us drop to 3rd and face the first placed team in another group. There is no head to head here. Hope Bosso is aware of this fact

Bosso to SE is too much of a call can we reduce this suggestion because the Bosso we know has to show consistency first, besides this is just group stage let us be calm Abeg. SE job we need the likes of Ptiso Mosiame of South Africa amongst other to come and help SE out of the slum we find our darling team today since we couldn’t nail down Herve Renard.

  • Whoever is close to Bosso should advise him not to dare change his winning team. Doing such, on the assumption that we have secured 6point already will most likely turn a negative tide. Changing winning team, always never help teams win tournament going by past experiences. BE WISE BOSSO.

He can only introduce Njoku in place of Bameyi and another player be tested in place of Fredrick who stand a risk of suspension if he receives another yellow card. Brazil will be a pain in the ass because I doubt if we will be able to bully them like we did against an ajebo Italian team.

  • If properly harnessed, some of the players in this team, especially Eletu, Jude Sunday, Daga, Ogwuche and Fredrick are good for the Super Eagles. Adding such quality players to play with, Victor Osimhen, Gift Orban, Samuel Chukwueze, Iwobi, Moffi, Lookman, Victor Boniface, Onyedika and Chuba Akpom will be formidable.

@Paul… We have been clamoring for reinvigoration of Super Eagles with younger and hungrier players. Sadly, some players have refused to be useful to the team yet wants to continue getting called up. See an individual like Ahmed Musa who wants to remain an ancestor in Super Eagles despite enjoying 10+years since 2010 he started out in Super Eagles…
