2023 U-20 W/Cup: It Won’t Be An Easy Game — Brazil Coach Wary Of Flying Eagles

Brazil head coach, Ramon Menezes is expecting a difficult game against the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.

The South Americans will take on the Flying Eagles in their last group game at 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup on Saturday (today) in La Plata.

The Young Selecao need a win from the game to earn a place in the Round of 16 and possibly secure top spot in the group.

Having watched the Flying Eagles beat Dominican Republic and Italy in their first two games, Menezes insisted the West Africans will be a tough nut to crack for his side.

“African teams are traditional powerhouses at this level and Nigeria is one of them,”the tactician told a press conference ahead of the game.

“So we have to approach the game with caution seeing how they have been playing so far. It won’t be an easy game for us to win.”

The game will kick off at 7pm Nigerian time.

Game score is 1 : 2 so if u are betting try to consider the two teams this is not a draw match. And both teams can win it depends on who wanted it most …

  • If truth be told, it’s never easy for any team to face Bosso’s U-20 team(s) . They can often be a kick in the teeth of opposition coaches.

For some reason, the Niger state born tactician seldom puts out a tactically grounded outfit with supremely talented players despite the plethora of raw talents available for selection at home and abroad.

He usually relies on his innate ability to churn out supremely physically fit players who buy into his functional approach with disciple and organisation.

And yes, if this Flying Eagles outfit can maintain a high level of focus and concentration, they will definitely continue to be a hard nut to crack.

Think about it, within 90 minutes of each of the 5 games that Bosso’s Flying Eagles played at the 2007 U-20 World Cup, they only conceded 1 goal.

Now, going into extra time in their 5th (and final) game in the tournament against Chile, they conceded 4 goals in just 30 minutes, far more than they conceded in the previous 450 minutes of football.

Why? Because that disciple and organisation that has come to be a formidable substitute for the lack quality in depth in Bosso’s teams was lost in the 30 minutes of extra time.

So, Brown Ideye, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and their colleagues fell like a sand castle hit with violent sea water. They lost their focus, they lost their composure, they lost their concentration and ultimately they lost the match scandalously.

We saw something perhaps slightly similar recently in this year’s U-20 Afcon where Bosso’s tactical displine and organisation only failed to hold out against the 2 best U-20 teams in Africa at the moment in Gambia and Senegal. In the 6 games played through to the 3rd place playoff, Nigeria conceded just 2 goals against these 2 teams.

And, if you want to be critical, loss of focus and concentration led to both goals whilst a huge slice of luck played a part too as the one against Senegal came off a wicked rebound with the one against Gambia coming off an unfortunate deflected pass.

So, there is definitely something to be said for Bosso’s pragmatic and compact approach even when it’s not entirely beautiful to watch.

It is still hard to see Bosso winning doubters over. His brand of football just doesn’t float the boat of a selection of Nigeria fans.

But what will float my boat is a podium finish in this tournament, something I strongly believe Bosso and his boys have the capabilities to accomplish.

This Brazil game will be tough. The FE don’t have good midfielders, that is where they will struggle.
