The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has thrown out Nigeria’s appeal against Guinea, fielding an ineligible player in the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier in March.
Guinea progressed into the 2023 U-23 AFCON finals after a 2-0 aggregate victory against the Olympic Eagles.
The first leg ended in a barren draw, with the Guineans winning the reverse fixture 2-0.
The NFF protested that one of the players fielded by Guinea in the game (Alseny Soumah) was not within the age limit.
The Guinea Football Federation established it was a case of mistaken identity as there were two different players with the name, Alsény Soumah.
The Guineans will take on host Morocco in the opening game of the U-23 AFCON.
Cameroon were however lucky as they won their protest against Gabon.
They will now replace the Gabonese in Group B of the competition.

Very good judgment. The Coach is an unrepentant thief.
Wanting to get what he could not get on the pitch through the backdoor
