2023 WWC: Waldrum Talks Up ‘Best Goalkeeper’ Nnadozie Display In Super Falcons’ Draw Against Canada

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum heaped plaudits on Chiamaka Nnadozie following her crucial role in Nigeria’s 0-0 draw against Canada.

Waldrum’s side put up a spirited display against the Olympic champions in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Group B encounter at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.

Nnadozie denied Christine Sinclair from the penalty spot five minutes after the break.

The Paris FC goalkeeper also made a number of vital saves in the game.

Waldrum was full of praise for Nnadozie after the game.

“Chiamaka has done this before and I will say this and I will embarrass her in front of you all, but I think she’s one of the best young goalkeepers in the world right now.” Waldrum was quoted by FIFA.com.

The Super Falcons will face Australia in their next game on Thursday, July 31 at the Brisbane Stadium.

  • You are right, Waldrum. If it was the SE, this match would easily have been 1-0. If only we had that kind of luck in the SE too. It’s been one goalkeeping crisis to the other since Oliseh unceremoniously retired Enyeama, alongside Emenike, and then he himself abandoned the team and fled shortly after.

The best coaches in the world (Ferguson, Pep, etc) never joke with their goalkeeping personnel. It’s a big deal and they’re ready to splurge any amount to secure one and won’t hesitate to dismiss a fumbling one. That’s a greater part of the luck countries like the male team of Senegal and Cameroun consistently have. The best attack is built on the best defense and the last man.

It is what it is paddy mi.
Oshoala, ordega should sit their butt on the bench..0 speed, ordega just bumping on players here and there..that girl Kanu and Ajibade will be more helpful.
The coach is with the team and Nigerian fans in a whole, His body language today was so clear 4 all to see.
Even though the scrap nff didnt
do him well , he was even more
Nervous than the players a sign
Of someone committed to his assignment.

        • Stop calling them old women. That’s callous! At least they didn’t lose the match to the Olympics champion
