2023 WWC: ‘We Will Exploit Their Weaknesses — England Coach Plots Super Falcons Fall

England head coach Sarina Wiegman says his side will find a way to beat the Super Falcons of Nigeria in their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup last-16 encounter.

The nine-time African champions will battle England for a place in the quarter-finals at the Lang Park, Brisbane on Monday.

The Super Falcons have surpassed expectations at the competition qualifying from a difficult group that has co-hosts Australia , Olympic champions Canada and Republic of Ireland.

Wiegman hinted it is important to study the Nigerians and map out a way of stopping them.

“We are going to study how the Nigerian team plays, take out the strengths and exploit their weaknesses,” stated the 53-year-old.

The encounter will the fourth-ever meeting between both teams.

The Super Falcons have won twice, while England have recorded one victory.

  • I will be keen to see whether you retain the 3-4-2 formation you introduced against China or whether you will stick to the 4-3-3 formation that served you well in the Euros last season.

I don’t think Randy Waldrum is ruffled. There is an air of calm around the American gaffer as he truly looks like a man on a mission who knows what his doing.

Also, will Waldrum stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation that turbocharged Nigeria to this stage or will he cave or tinker?

Sarina’s Lionesses are fired up. With just 2 top 10 Fifa ranked team remaining in this tournament, they have no intentions going the way of Germany and Canada.

So it will be fight to finish.

Agreed with you bro. A fight to a finish. England is beatable.

  • I think coach Waldrum should stick to the pattern that has brought the Super Falcons this far?. We can’t match the Lionesses in possession football. They certainly will have much of the ball but we must be ready to quickly exploit every opening that comes our way with very effective counter attacks. Our attackers must be clinical with the chances we will have. Ayinde and Uchebie must be ready to work extra hard to provide extra cover for our defence and either of them must be ready to support in our attacking play.
Is the match winnable? Yes of course but it’s going to be really difficult.
I wish our girls God’ favour.

    • Norway has just been overwhelmed by Japan in spite of sitting back. They only used height once to get their only goal. Somehow, the two teams who possessed the ball more today, Spain and Japan are through. Waldrums silence on our next tactics is making me too anxious. I can’t wait for Monday. Imagine they are saying Nigeria only has 11% chance at winning.

When you are scared of your opponent, this is what happens. No worries, Monday is almost here. This is the Nigeria team, not the China team ooo. Good luck to Super Falcons. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

England is beatable….of course but you can’t keep soaking up pressures for a long time.
Our team likes sitting back and defending with a hope of counter attacks but that’s not the best in football.
I wish our girls all the best.
They have really surpassed expectations at this tournament but beating England is doable.
